My student room was £12 a week in 1985.
i paid £85pw for catered halls in my first year, in 2000, and then i think about £60-70pw for my house in 2nd year (a horrible dive in leyton) and £105pw to live in the corridor of a one bedroom flat in camden that i shared in the third year! it was at least a wide corridor.
my landlord was a mad greek called stavros who spent 10 minutes explaining to me how the light switches and door handles worked when we moved in.
i used to visit leeds a lot and my friends there were paying about £35 a week to live in much better places.0 -

I feel uncomfortable about the absolute nature , which obviously has to exist for laws etc. e.g. If some one told me someone who'd been fighting depression for two years And wanted to be euthanised I'd be more personall6 shocked t the prospect than someone who,d had depression for 20 years with little or no break. I can!t really say how I,d feel not being in the position but if I were moved to suicide regularly, multiple times a year every year For two dozen years i can,t help thinking I,d want a clean planned way out over a harder one....
But I do agree with what you say in my most part
Edit, but that more gruesome than planned death with support must be slow, repeated attempt and eventual succes alone, in pain and often by method traumatising to the individual and others...family, bystanders etc. I think the latter is as gruesome as the idea of bed leading euthanasia.
When I had my breakdown, death was at the forefront of my mind. Many times I would attempt to attempt to end it all but would 'chicken out' before I did anything...I had to stay away from sharp objects at my worse and my doctor only prescribed a few days worth of tablets at a time to stop me using them to overdose (he had wanted me admitted).
I'm not sure I would have taken up the option of something like Dignitas but I would probably have been quite tempted. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Following my earlier note...
I was in Hemel today and bumped into someone I know who is a member. I asked how it compared to MK. I said was it bigger and they said that the layout is different so its a different experience. They said the nursery facilities at Hemel are particularly good and that although it is more expensive, if you like it and get a membership you get 30% off. They also backed up the comment that the cafe/bar was good and serves good coffee and hot choc. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Good stuff, thanks for this. I looked at some pictures on line and it looked bigger than MK. The one in MK is just shoved in the middle of a shopping centre in the middle of the town's grid system, rather than on a natural hill, so is pretty small. I have booked a 3 hour lesson next Sunday at Hemel, hopefully I can still stand up on skis.0 -
I felt such a fool yesterday. Worse still, I felt like an old and out of touch one.
Occasionally I work Saturdays at the library. I was having lunch and could hear a conversation out of the window. Bear in mind there has been a problem in the area recently with grafitti and some of the buildings have been tagged.
I could hear "yes, I'm at the library and thought it would be a good time to write stuff on my wall" from a voice in the car park. I was just about to march outside and remonstrate strongly, when I realised they were talking about their facebook page. Oh the shame...Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Yuck. I think I'd want OH to find someone else and be happy, so long as she was very nice to Isaac, if I died.
Not at all sure I'd want to be the dating agency, though....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

My parents have opposing views, so it would never happen. One wouldn't allow it to happen to the other and the other is vehementally against it, so it couldn't be considered for them.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
