Manchester student rents average £70 a week with July and August at half rates. He's in the wrong place!

Ay, DD was Oop North and it was a lot cheaper. DS preferred the other end of the country.

[To lostinrates]... is your OH fit?

    :)

    Yes he is. ;)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    12p x 40 litres = £4.80 saved
    7x2=14 miles at a guessed 20p/mile fuel cost = £2.80 spent

    £2 up.

Your assuming that the tank will be empty, I don't get through a tank in 2 weeks, so that may not be so.

In any case, going to sainsbury's probably means a coffee in the adjoining M&S, so that is the £2 spent.

He says thank you Lydia :):). He says he looks better when he's at his summer weight. His words not mine. He looks pretty good to me, but it's funny, because he's not what I would have described as my type, yet now I can,t imagine someone more lovely looking. Love does that to people :o:D

Also, how much time would it take, and what hourly rate is appropriate for your time?

My room was either 75 or 100 I can't remember now. We had the single rooms with wet rooms that are more common now, but we're still a bit of a novelty then, but no choice, all but a very few doubles were reserved for non he students. Explains why after a year in halls so many of us were ready to flat share. We had a fair few students whose parents bought houses locally too, the area had a mini property boom disproportionate because of the expansion there. A number of people commuted too, either mature students with families or people who just lived within an hour or two. For a very short while I commuted 100 miles or so, because I needed to be somewhere else at night.

    Loaded question.

If I had the opportunity to earn more by doing more work then pro-rata it would a lot, some stupid amount.

But I don't. So the income is what it is and the rest of the time is mine :) So the margin hourly rate is zero.

My student room was £12 a week in 1985.

Still, it's a £2 pound coffee you wouldn't have enjoyed at the other garage!

I used to panic every time my petrol light came on, thinking I had about half-a gallon left, but checked it on the internet and found there's ten litres left at that point, so I tend to look around for a good price without worrying about running out and do a big fill :D

Blimey - that'd have to be a very very serious arrest/case to have the hours trying to do that.

If I had more time now I'd see .... in the meantime, I have to go out, but here is ....

    NP Challenge

By midnight tonight ..... I want you to come up with a good story and alibi (evidence if possible) of where you were between 7pm and 9pm on Wednesday 9th January 2008.

    :)

Let's see how many secret murderers we're harbouring here..... those without an alibi!

i was at dinner with my girlfriend in med kitchen, 50 - 51 St Martins Lane, London, WC2N 4EA.

i doubt she would be able to corroborate though as i only know this by looking on my toptable.co.uk booking history (we have dinner every wednesday night which enabled me to narrow it down to being at dinner somewhere with her!)
