I fancy Barcelona, Nice and one of the Italian city's. Where have other NP been and liked and where would they like to go in the future?
I've only been to a few. Have never been to Italy and would like to visit some of the renowned Italian places of interest.
For many years, as the children were growing up, we travelled the length and breadth of the British Isles. They are well educated in the land of their birth and its neighbours.0 -
No, It was a 1 week family break tre.
It was summer and really warm as they don't have much air-con. I remember me and DD always buying those water based ice creams they have and it was a bit cooler in the underground.
Sorry sss, it was only a joke
I think Prague would be a lovely place to visit, I've seen some lovely pictures of its architecture.0 -
I've not really been to many European "city break" destinations outside the UK except Prague.

Prague is on my "to do list". I have been on lots of city breaks because I can't do beach holidays.
I liked: Copenhagen, Helsinki, St Petersburg and Talinn on the Baltic; Barcelona and Rome on the Med. Naples is good too, not so much for the city but where you can get to from there: Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Capri, Sorrento... At the other end of Italy I love the area round La Spezia. DH loves Lisbon but I haven't been there since I was a kid. In France I really like Avignon and Strasbourg, there's plenty to do in and around both. Further afield I like NY and Boston. Barcelona is my favourite city break destination.
My to do list: Prague, Bratislava, Lisbon, Krakow, Budapest, Dubrovnik, Venice, Oslo, San Sebastian, Rejkavik (or however you spell it), Ljubljana (ditto), Berlin. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Barcelona is fab. Had a great trip there a few years ago attending an electronic music festival (or, less euphemistically, raving like a young 'un). We had a cool apartment overlooking Le Quatre Gats and I particularly appreciated the restaurants and strolling around the Barri Gotic.
Krakow is a good city break. The old town there is lovely, and nearby you can visit the salt mines at Wieliczka and also there's Auschwitz-Birkenau (possibly not everyone's idea of a holiday excursion but I found it a profoundly worthwhile experience).
Like you, I would also like to visit a few Italian cities.0 -
Oh, and Istanbul is amazing. Haghia Sophia, Byzantine ruins, Grand Bazaar, and the general East meets West feeling.0

Istanbul is great for a city break but can be very cold in winter.
<Posh Alert> I know the area around Cannes/St Trop fairly well as my parents used to have a gite in the Var about 20 minutes from the coast which is definitely a great area. I did a driving tour with a Japanese GF starting IN Nice with a couple of days in each of St Trop, Cannes, Nice, Monaco, Genoa, Milan and Zermatt before dropping the hire car off at Geneva and apart from Milan being a bit cold the weather was actually really comfortable on the coast and still snowy in Switzerland, I think it was late Feb.
I also did drove round Italy for a month after one of my chalet girl seasons doing pretty much everywhere as far south as Rome and tbh a month was not enough to do justice to the region - Florence, Sienna, Rome, Venice, Turin, Milan etc all highly recommended. This trip was on much more of a budget but May was definitely warm enough for some camping (different gf on that trip).Oh, and Istanbul is amazing.
