How much was your Dragon? It's on my list, even though my typing speed is in excess of 100wpm and I've never had RSI.... it's on my list but I'd need a new PC first, then the software.... so it's on the "luxury/future" list. If this year hadn't been how it has been I'd have now been at that stage probably.0

Shopping. Pub lunch. Fair/candyfloss. Home.0 -
Outside lights up - a single row of blue lights going round two sides of the house (we're where the road goes round a corner) at upstairs windowsill level. DD happy about it. DS in a sulk because I wouldn't let him go up the ladder to secure the end to the drainpipe. Only one other house on our road has any. They had theirs on a few days ago but haven't turned them on for the last couple of days, so we are waiting to see if they'll put theirs back on now that we've joined them and put some up. They are on the short bit of the road. Two others along there have those little electric candle thingies in a window, and one house has some lights all over one window. On the long bit of the road (ie going the other way from our corner) nobody has anything. Perhaps they think showing lights spoils the look of the road. They are lovely friendly people but they do have fairly strong views on what spoils the look of the road, I'm afraid.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

a benefit of being the only person on my road: I can put out anamatronic reindeer, and christmas lights under a menora (gdb will correct my spelling agin I hope) and a light up stone henge /white hrse or the soltice and my fc123couture dressed dummy nativity scene and not bring down anyone's tone but our own.
you benefit, on a corner is you can get two in one, offending neighbours on either side of the corner!;)0 -

£62 IIRC - special deal on Amazon. It comes with a headset, but I use a fancy Sennheiser microphone. I'm using a 5 year old PC that cost just over £200, so it doesn't need fancy hardware. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Pastures, in Cornwall/Devon, there was a tradition of wrecking. Perhaps on a busy road you could have signs for a layby that actually point towards a large oak tree. Then, when people crash into the tree, you can all emerge from your houses and loot their cars before the emergency services arrive. It is good to keep the old traditions alive, don't you agree? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

We don't need to do that; there's an incredible number of trees around here with ribbons & plastic flowers attached. Also a huge amount of that blue & white police tape draped over gaps in hedges (Random thought: could the fuzz be prosecuted for littering, as this is still there months after the event? Plenty of evidence!)
Some places are notorious. I don't travel the A377 more than twice a week max, and it's not a very busy A road, but I've seen three accidents in the same place in 2.4 years. How many do they have when I'm not there? :eek:0
