And would it entail giving our RL contact details to missk to give to some random member of the NPT? I'm not sure that's terribly wise.
We've got one at work this year. The person organising it used a website that sent each of us an email saying it was from one of Santa's elves, and specifying who we were to buy for. Fortunately I found fairly easy to buy for - with a limit of £5.I did it on another website previously, if we just limit it to the regulars it will be fine as I would have your Secret Santa RL details.
But of course, it would have to be done at the other place as MSE doesn't allow for exchange of personal details.0 -
If its done I suggest people start dropping heavy hints about what they'd like a fiver spent on....:)0

I'll take mine in Peace on Earth tokens, thanks. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Just logged into my school email. There's an email sent from Nick Gibb (the schools minister) to all schools and forwarded to all of us teachers by the head's PA. There's a summary of what the changes to the pension scheme do and don't entail, and a link to a DfE website with more info. It's very frustrating. There is absolutely no mention anywhere that I can find of anything about independent schools and those of us who teach in them. The Hutton report recommended kicking us out of the scheme altogether, but we haven't been sure whether that would happen or not, or what the implications will be for recruiting teachers in the future.
Now, this is the NPT, so please no discussion of the rights and wrongs of the TPS in general, or independent school teachers' right to belong to it in particular. Surely even the most hardened debater can understand that I want to know whether I'm being kicked out or not. So I'm just wondering if any of the NP can find out anything definitive for me. I've spent time searching both the TPS site and the DfE site, but they're doing my head in. I put "independent schools" in the search terms, and the searches still keep giving me pages that don't mention them. :mad:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Lydia, proposed changes relating to independent schools at base of this page:

Thanks viva, that was quick
but that page is copyright 2010 and describes the status quo, not the changes that are being finalised now and will come into force between 2012 and 2015.

Ah sorry.... There I was thinking that the site would be up to date. That'll teach me:o. We've just been caught out for the first time in 2.5 years, so I had to go down to the 'corner shop' for cat food.
As you may realise, at this time of night, our 'corner' is 5 miles away!0 -

You are not. At this stage, the proposal is to close the TPS to new independent school teachers, not to kick those out who are already a member.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

For Lydia. Here's a bit linked to Hansard:

(you can get to directly via Hansard but this is easier to read)Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
