I don't know if they have them everywhere, but they own One Stop Shops as well now. The penny dropped for me - there must be one Tesco (of the Express variety) within a 10 mile radius of our main town. One Stop Shops, well they're everywhere. There's no clubcard points or anything, so they've gone in by stealth, afaic.

I don't use them either now.

Thanks Doozer, I wasn't aware of that. Tesco does appear to be buying up the retail landscape!

Personally I prefer Sainsburys which is my supermarket of choice, I do my main shop there, with some "in between" shops at my local Tesco, just because it is closer.

I doubt I've been in a park... not really sure what a park is or what makes a park a park and not, say, a common, or village green.

Parks are more planned and manicured. I prefer commons and woods myself as they are more rough and ready, even though they clearly need a lot of care to be commons and woods and don't just stay like that by themselves. Personally, commons and woods are where I go for a ramble or to walk my parent's dog, parks are where I go for a picnic or for a community event (though Music on the Moor, near my parent's house, throws that theory out a bit).

Anyhow, I've worked out why you are so confused. I just went on the net looking for parks in North Cornwall and it gave me a list of caravan parks, followed by car parks:rotfl:.

    I don't have a supermarket of choice.
I do have severe disdain for tesco's for some reason though.

Londoner now, but I seem to recal he mentioned that is where he was born a few pages ago.

Having more time than money at the moment I tend to be a bit of a supermarket tart but Sains does remain my 'home' brand. I think you get to know what is good value and quality in the store you use most and then if you go to another store you therefore end up spending more and finding you don't like their products as much.

Last week was a double Sains week (2x£60 spends to get 10p fuel vouchers - a couple of more expensive items used to get over the £60 to be returned). This week it will be Tescos as they have sent me a whole bunch of vouchers, £12 of £80 and £4 off £40 which I hope can be used together and also £3 of £30 for my wife - I guess we may spend about £30x2 of genuine stuff and add on a £50 item to be returned so that we can use the main voucher, we will also concentrate on the bogof and similar items and have a check on hotukdeals for other good prices. So probably we will end up with about £75 of stuff at full (ie rip off) prices for a total spend of £41. We will of course have to nip in to Sains for a few of their specials and anything where we just don't like the tesco alternative, possibly Asda for any of their bogofs that we fancy and similarly Morrisons at some point when we are passing.
    I think....

DG are you really homeless despite owning several houses? That is not the life for kids, I think you need to tell DH to pull his finger out or put down the deposit and rent somewhere for 6 months.

Locally Tesco Express and Sains Local stores are multiplying, prices are more than the supermarkets but a lot less than the corner shops - I wonder if the conner shops will disappear in the same way other independent retailers have?

We have to leave our holiday cottage on Saturday. We're now booked into a local Holiday Inn Express for six nights because there are no holiday cottages except these ones. Next week is going to be hell.
    I think....

If you want to save a bit more, some friends on FB seem to spend their day clicking "like" on sponsored products which generates money off coupons.

Until recently Tesco would accept the £4 off £40 Sainsbury vouchers. Now they've stopped :( I don't know if the same is true in reverse.

I'll be about a mile from the M5 and a mile from the M42. About a mile from where we were, but less villagey as it's the main road into the local town. Our local pub is of a brand name, eating variety. It's a fair few miles to a 24 hour supermarket and convenience shops aren't entirely convenient, about a 10 minute walk. I really liked our old location, I liked how my house looked but I didn't enjoy how it felt. It was a proper cottage, so a bit dark even with 17 windows!

    You're closer than I thought.
There's two rough areas where you're sort of equidistant from M5 and M42, I know cos my mum and dad live in one, but as it's more than 1mi for them I reckon you're probably the other. Is the pub a Harvester by any chance?

On Tesco's they opened an express in Bournville. The area is historically a Quaker area. There are some very unusual nuances in local planning & by-laws.
Tesco were refused a licence for their express shop, as nowhere in the area is there a pub or offie. Tesco's were convinced their clout would get them the first ever licence in the area.

It was kinda funny that they were refused.
