Why hello there sss555s. We haven't seen you on the NPT for a little while. Is everything going well for you? Any news to share?
Hi Lydia. I do look on most days and don't always post as much, but should post more.
Emotionally (complicated) not so good but work wise is fine and I'm a "glass half full" type so i mustn't grumble like.
I had a really nice holiday in Malta recently.
They say you either love it or hate it but i love Malta.
Anyone else been to Malta?0 -

If you've ever watched motor racing at the track, you'll know that it's 1000% better on TV. My brother used to have a racing car, and I'd quite often turn out to support him. He was always last, so it was easy to spot him going round the track. But I only got to see him for 2 or 3 seconds a lap, and then there'd be a nail-biting wait to see if he made it round again. He normally broke down before the end of the race.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

OH took 4 years of applications to get pupillage, and then got one at the set he most liked out of the whole Bar. But it was a depressing time before he got it.
That's an extraordinary story. I knew that there are far, far more trainee barristers being churned out than there are places for, but I hadn't realised that people keep on applying for years. What did he do during the 4 years, and how did that affect his chances of being selected? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

there are far more phd's being trained for than places in academia. so much so that there is now damage limitation on expectations.
Guessing it's the case in many professional careers?0 -
Well I had an eventful day yesterday. I didn't get the job and ended up going out for a 'quick beer' with my boss.
We got thrown out of one venue at about 2am because I got a little frisky with a bloke that tried to steal my bag. I don't think he'll be doing that that again. I have now been barred from a pub for the first time in my life and my hand hurts where he ran into my fist.0 -

I really like Malta too. I wouldn't want to go there for any length of time, but it is an ideal destination for a short break. I've been there a couple of times and the locals were great, really enjoyed travelling around and there are still things left for me to do in future visits. It isn't an ideal location for the 18-30 or only want to lay on a beach and party in the night set; nor am I convinced it is a great family destination, but for people who like history and city breaks its a really interesting place to go. Shame they've replaced the old buses though.Wimen!!!

Oi you! Are you saying that because Sue and I like F1 we aren't all woman:p? That's rather concerning because you are one of the few people that know what we both look like! Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Good on ya Gen! How come you were the one that got barred? Did your boss get thrown out too?
Last time someone tried to grab my handbag his groin accidentally ran into my knee. SS55 and Viva - problem is can the BBC justify the spend for such good coverage when there are so many other sports?
The big issue for me is that the BBC had negotiated the deal from 2009-2014 and have gone back on it. By the time they pay all the get out clauses on contracts will they be much better off? If they were to do this as a clean break in 2014 that would have been a reasonable commercial decision, but they didn't. So now they have to still pay people to work half as hard (or lose the team) while 6m people don't get to see half the races. It is a messy decision taken by a corporation that has shown time after time that they are really good at creative works but very poor at commercial decisions. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
