When my wife and I go off together we wash dishes by hand, but at home there are 6 or 7 of us, and we use dishwashers. We have 2 dishwashers, so that we can separate the plates that we use for milk and meat. Personally, I'd prefer to go vegetarian and just have the one set of dishes, but we have some meat eaters in the house. (Yes, before you ask, two sinks! But only one oven.)

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I'm pretty sure the most humble of people will follow dietary law if their religion demands it....and GDB's does ask this of him.

edit: I've never minded not having a dishwasher, but I'm getting bored of washing up nowadays.

It's really SWMBO who is very keen on religion. I take no credit in that department.

The dishwasher is a big help as I am permitted to stick everything in, then wait for SWMBO to inspect it and decide that it's full enough for me to be allowed to turn it on. The plates, glasses and cutlery all come out clean, but saucepans sometimes need an extra scrub, and oven dishes usually do. Despite that, with loads of people in the house, it saves a lot of time. It's also economical in water usage - much cheaper than washing up by hand and rinsing under the tap.

Incidentally, and this is really big news, so pay attention everybody: SWMBO thinks she may have come up with a use for tumble dryer fluff! Something to do with using it as a blanket to keep plants warm in winter. What do the NP think?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

NPs, a quick question if I may. I've come home and there's a chemical smell in the house. Having been around the boundary with a torch, it looks like someone has lifted the drain at the side of the house and poured white spirit down it. Any idea what I need to do. I've tried looking up on the local council website, but somewhat unhelpfully am getting a 404 error.
I've had that smell appearing in my house, up through the drains.... luckily it was just the once. Never did anything about it as I had no idea how the drains were laid out or how many might feed into it .... and it didn't happen a second time.

Oh, I know nothing of that. If I were asked to say everything I knew about kosher I'd say " er... there's meat, kosher meat".... and that's the limit of my knowledge. I'm 2% guessing that's Jewish, but not really up to speed with religious stuff at all.

I have loads of first cousins - 11 on my dad's side, and 5 full plus 4 half-cousins on my mum's side. Almost all of them are married with kids, and in some cases grandkids. My kids have 5 cousins - all on my side because LNE was an only child.

Wow, that must have required some serious memory tests for your grandparents, on names / birthdays / A level subjects!

    wii - Nope
tumble dryer - We've got a washer / dryer. Useful in a flat.
dishwasher - would be lost without it
    E-reader - Got one recently. It's great!
