It's fun trying to name all the places people have been.

DH is home today. We just had the following conversation:

"What's that red bit across the top of your map?"

    "Russia"

"Who did you go there with then?"

"Er you, about 3 years ago..."

It does make my map look overly impressive though, given that I only went to St Petersburg and only for a weekend.

Let me guess...you've been to The Gambia and took one of those daytrips into Senegal with a boat trip in the Casamance?

Hope you feel better soon :)

no, my head hurt already, I thought the map would be diverting and stress relieving and fun, and it wasn't, not your fault at all. I blame me and only me. :)

Also, just relaised I don;t think I ate anything at all today. I'll fix that soon. I didn;t write it down if I did. I'm fixated on yesterdays breakfast which was delcious, and I keep thinking about that, so not sure what I had since because I've been very bad atr writing stuff down recently :D

    Depends on the job:D

While you were putting that up I was trying to work out how to do it. It is my first inserted picture ever, so although you helped me out (thanks) I'm going to leave it up there as I've broken my picture inserting duck.

    I'll edit mine now.

My image or link button doesn't work and i have to insert the tags myself at the moment.

I fear for library jobs if I'm honest as they look an easy government target. Your doing the right thing by having something else set up.

I worked for a large international company for 15 years but our plant was always earmarked for closure, more for political reasons than for not making a profit.

I did self employed along with my job for 4 years until it closed and i haven't looked back.

    Correct :D

Road hogs boat story reminded my of when I went up river to Kunta Kinte's village. They also had a disaster at a later date.

Not spotted anyone with Iceland coloured red, has anyone been (as a tourist), as we are thinking of going next year for a short break.

Libraries have a saving grace though. We are the local internet point for people who have no access. The government is retrenching access on all fronts: far fewer public facing staff, more call centres, more need to fill out forms online etc. If you want to claim anything, then chances are if you don't have access at home you have to come in to the library to print out the form. Want a bus timetable? Many are only online too now. Without offering access to PCs for people who don't have them at home there would be the need to offer far wider access to other public services. Libraries are a relatively cheap way of allowing other public services to get smaller.

We were staying in Kololi and going on a one day trip into the southern bit of Senegal. Highlight of the trip was a boat ride to a little island with an "animist village". So the guide explaining us about animism, that they believe objects have spirits and this and that.
We arrived at the island and it all looked quite primitive...local women beating cannabis plants and stuff, until a little kiddie appeared carrying a little electronic music box with the song "MA YA HII... MA YA HAA" blaring out of it. That was a bit of an anticlimax. :)
