On a totally different tangent, I wanted to ask everyone a question.

When you think about Europe, do you think about "them" or "us"? I think there's a lot of "them" thinking around here. As is customary, I don't know what I think at the moment, fence sitting as usual with splinters in my bottom, so just wondered about everyone else. It shapes a lot of people's opinions on the economy and political union, so that's why I thought I'd ask.

If I think of the French or Spanish, it's 'them' but when I talk to someone from the US or South africa, it's 'we'.

If i was talking to a non European I'd think of it as us.

If i was talking to a local I'd think it as them.

    Lot's of S's said it better :)
No .... it's "The Man" in sheep's clothing.... you'd be owned. I'd rather be poor and not owned, but surviving, than dancing the man's game... no matter how pretty the sheep.

    :)

    Unless it's £2,000,000.

I had somebody come to me once over a domain they owned... $200k. "Take it" I said as it was a sale .... sell for big bucks, don't get owned by the dream when it's really "The Man" in wool.

Edit: If it's just 3 years .... then bend over and take it with a smile. 3 years is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Beeeeend.

...see..I knew you would know and say it as it is. You also sound like OH. The figure you are talking about is the lower end of the deal....it would be a few numbers more than that....but the strings are more like big wiry barbed ropes.

We had a chat last week (he's done this before and is based overseas) and he'd not spoken to me before but has met with OH twice. He did buy me a book about Mellon and J Choo....

I think I can be candid on here plus whatever I write I would say face to face anyways.

It's a gift for his teen daughter to take over once she's a bit older.....except I have a teen too who's doing a sterling job considering she's at the beginning of her working life.

Tiny snag with this type of business is the core underneath that creates everything above is an inexact science. It's the bit in my head :)

The one place where I know I can get good advice, if this develops , is this board and thanks to Viv , lot's of S's as I know you both could do the due diligence bit. We did a deep google (and son could do a legal one at college later) ...he's real and it's all kosher.

Silvercar was on earlier saying she had also missed it.

I find people I have a connection with are more us than people in a specieifc group - for example I really can't get into England team worship at all. So my inlaws in JA and FLA and SA etc are us along wiht friends in Japan and elsewhere around the globe whereas probably culturally very similar English are not us unless I know them - I don't see why I shoudl share more attachement with other UK citizens than any other citizens of the world.

Are they wanting to buy you out but employ you for 3 years or buy a share?

If it's the latter you could also consider selling it outright, giving support for a period if you were able to re-start.

Just think, clearing the decks and starting afresh, keeping a wedge and using the banks money.

The truth is, the real money can be made in selling company's.

Is any money worth selling a bit of your soul? When I was a fresh young graduate looking for jobs I could have applied to the big merchant banks but I just didn't have it in me to think only of how much money I would be making and not what I was doing and what it meant.

Three years of being unhappy is a very long time.

There is a small 3 bed detached near us that is probate sale asking 425 - might well accept 400 or less as it has been on a while. Pretty much demolished and rebuilt as a 5/6 bed for say 200k it would then be worth 700+. I nice profit but takes balls to put so much capital into the housing market at the moment with all the uncertainty.

The 256k might turn a small profit if the buyer doesn't properly price their own labour and the interest and buying and selling costs. Going over 250k has already cost a lot in stamp duty.
    It went for £256,000

It's not necessarily selling your soul, though. It is basically an employment offer. Plenty of people take jobs for a few years. It depends whether you like the people and want to work for them.

Ultimately, it depends what you want.

That's why I said about the exit clause... if you sign a deal like this, you need to know whether you can get out of the contract if it goes wrong. You also need to look very careful at the non-compete clauses to make sure they don't restrict your ability to work after the deal.

After that, it is simply weighing up a job offer and working out whether the money is good enough for you to be satisfied and happy.

Youngest son's Ipad fund has taken a knocking today....he found out he could trade in his 2nd hand Ipod touch 2nd gen and get a brand new Ipod touch 4th gen with a cash top up of £99...so he did.

So, his saving will have to start again..that was approx 5/6 months worth he paid over today.but he is happy, he has his first ever brand new Apple product and he did it with no parental help whatsoever, it is all his own efforts and saving.

We also popped into the Istore where it was discovered his knowledge of Apple products surpassed all of the staff's, think they were rather dumbfounded to have this child of 13 (but looks about 8) telling them chapter and verse of the different bits and pieces, the history of the various machines etc.

    I spent £1....on parking.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
