My accountant is in Reading if you are interested lir. Great firm, specialises in small businesses. Probably too far away still but thought I'd mention it. PM me if you want me to put you in touch for a chat. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

On a totally different tangent, I wanted to ask everyone a question.
When you think about Europe, do you think about "them" or "us"? I think there's a lot of "them" thinking around here. As is customary, I don't know what I think at the moment, fence sitting as usual with splinters in my bottom, so just wondered about everyone else. It shapes a lot of people's opinions on the economy and political union, so that's why I thought I'd ask. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Sorry to be thick, I'm not entirely sure what your question is?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

When you think about Europe, do you think about "them" or "us"? .
It depends.
In the same way as it depends when I think about the ''them and us'' of family, or even domestic politics...the them and us expand and contact according to the situation.
e.g. the ''us'' might be DH and I holding out against our families to get married, or the us might be dh and I and our families in a different situation. It expands and contracts.
In the same way the us can be England, UK, EU, Europe, Western Europe, Western World, Commonwealth, Northern hemsphere, English speaking countries, European .......or various other divisions according to situation.
edit: in specific response...re the euro its both...I think its ''their'' currency and I think the management of 17 is probably right (even if a bit them and us) but also recognise its to our benefit to see them not fail (so they are us in that respect). Politcally they might not...stone people or have shocking women's rights or human rights like people we might call ''them'' but neither do I want some of the potical processes and norms that, um ''Us'' don't have over 'ere.0 -

Neither really.
In theory I think we should view Europe as a very close business partner, or perhaps one half of a company that has merged on paper but is still operationally separate.
It's 'us', in terms of success being mutually beneficial, or indeed essential for the long term well-being of both parties, but it's 'them' in terms of being culturally very different.
The Greek PM calling a referendum was a moment of jaw dropping stupidity, for example. Breathtakingly irresponsible. The equivalent of a rogue trader risking the banks future on a roll of the dice for personal gain.
And in general, I think European integration has gone far enough for now, at least until they can figure out a way to do things in a less bureaucratic manner and with a lot less red-tape. However in theory, and over the long term, I think deeper integration is probably inevitable, and probably a good thing.
I really don't get the anti-immigrant, anti-Europe rhetoric on the board at all.
We need them more than they need us.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

When I think about Europe I think it as us.
If i was talking to a non European I'd think of it as us.
If i was talking to a local I'd think it as them.0 -
I can share a mini secret with you all now as we have an ''investor'' interested. The teeny tiny snag is that there are so many strings and these aren't strings related to our ability or work ethic. Nope, the strings are just very emotional so I am beating myself up about how I feel about it all. I just want to run and hide back down in the sludge in the pond again.
I never thought I would feel this way. I am ashamed at my lack of materialism too.....why didn't he come to us when were 30 somethings?
I have actually been thinking PN type comments in my head over it as she tends to say things as they are. PN would say, if I told her, things like 'f*ing do it, take it, do the 3 years (probably bending over really low most of the time) and cash the cheque. OH says the same thing....but it's all so dam tricky...I am just so not a bending over type of person and I am gutted as I din't realise until the offer appeared.
Unless it's £2,000,000.
I had somebody come to me once over a domain they owned... $200k. "Take it" I said as it was a sale .... sell for big bucks, don't get owned by the dream when it's really "The Man" in wool.
Edit: If it's just 3 years .... then bend over and take it with a smile. 3 years is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Beeeeend.0 -

I'd be very careful.
Depends what he's offering and what share he wants. From what you say he is clued up and probably knows exactly what he wants.
Remember he has no emotional attachment and may well just push to maximise his investment. That could mean you going into a lot of debt to "gear up". What then if you end up in a mess and he walks.
Give me a shout if it's Du*can Bann*tyne and you need a translator0
