Good comment.
At the age of 10, I was told that Mum's first husband was 'shot down.' By then I'd started asking awkward questions about my extended family. There's no reason to think that this explanation was untrue.
Dad's first wife was a different matter . She played around as soon as he was sent away for extended periods on war work. So, certainly not 'just men.'
my mum is adopted, but about 5 years ago found out that her real mother was a woman she had grown up believing to be her aunt (who was dead by then) and her real father was an american GI who was never heard of again after he went off to d-day. No idea whether he was killed in the war or made it through.
i was pretty annoyed to find out that i am 1/4 american. i hope he was a first generation immigrant!0 -

My talent (so I am told) is that I can identify all chocolates in quality street/roses etc by sight alone, without reference to the instructions that come with these tins.
I have been tested, & passed every time.:o
Hmmm....still baffled as to how this guy is single....knows more a bout chocolate than beverages.0 -
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
LydiaJ is "hot" ...
sss555s, can I quote the first three words of your post out of context?lemonjelly wrote: »Why haven't you updated your sig?:)

The bloke yo0u were on about earlier was Kevin Warwick. I have a book he wrote. Not got round to reading it yet though...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Hi old buddies. I am back. Slowly recovering from a mental breakdown that I would have never survived but for a wife in a million, a brilliant doctor and, sad to say, some powerful drugs. Hope all me old mates are keeping life together in these strange and uncertain times.
Late at night but will be a regular again here, if I may.
Chat tomorrow.
Good to see you fella! Hope all is well!:jIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Lovely to be back. As many of you know I have been very ill but sort of coming out of the other side. forgive me nor not staying touch. Had a bout of paranoia during that time.
Well let`s try and make this a positive post but with a warning.
I got an e mail today saying it was from the tax office and to apply on line for a tax refund.
When I investigated it flagged up as a possible phishing site. The spelling was a bit iffy in the mail so I guessed as much.
Hope life has been treating you all OK. My friend, Mr. J. bravo sussed that I had been making the odd post under a different name. Whoo hoo, I qualify for a sockie award.
Well I struggled on working from home whilst I was ill. Thankfully just about coped. In April I was dismissed from my sales agency that I had run for over 11 years. I might have gone nutty but thankfully my mind was still pretty sharp. Now, risking that I am boring you, there are a number of legalities raised by their actions. Not going to drive you crackers with the details.
I am fortunate indeed that a large national firm of work related solicitors have accepted my case on what was called " no win, no fee " NDG will know the proper name for it. Phew, just got a draft of their claims letter. Frightened me to death, not sure what it will do to the bozos that I contracted to. Not only, as prescribed by law going for compensation and three months notice but they are challenging them on a ton of commission that they have been creaming off me for years. Tbh, it is a life changing figure. Bottom line was I introduced a international on line company to the firm. Wow did they spend! Usually worth £1,500 a month to me.
In the Autumn of 2006 they placed the account in house. Meaning that they stopped paying me. Very angry I was at the time but at my age, some money is a lot better than no money. Well blow me down and call me Doris, under the law they owe me all that back money as well. Solicitors are mailing the initial letter next week and would you believe? Under law they have to produce the sales they have made to the internet company since 2006 within, I think, 21 days.
Me, not very comfortable with this legal stuff. Even traffic wardens tend to make me break out in goose pimples. Well we will have to see. At least it will rattle their cage.
lemonjelly likes this post!:)
Sounds real good.
Best to not comment too directly - your solicitors will be fully aware of the relevant caselaw & all the relevant facts of the case.

DH is home...working..but working here. The little cat is adoringly gazing at him, and the big dog has =ceased playing silly beggars. All is right in our world when DH is here, the critters and I are happy.
Interesting debate. Why is sensible not also fun?
Surely anyone sensible is aware of the essential nature to have fun? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
May be because she isn't so hot any more?!I am enjoying the peace and quiet, but not the cold. My heating system has a wireless thermostat that you can carry about and put in different places, and just at the moment I can't find it. I seem to have turned it down rather low just before losing it, and I always feel colder when I'm tired.lemonjelly wrote: »Why haven't you updated your sig?:)I think....0
