If you post on the internet, you need to bend with the wind if it blows back at you. People are much ruder than they would be in real life. Also, there are nuances in conversation that are totally lost in writing. If someone insults you, your best bet is to ignore the insult (or purport to agree with it!) and then go straight back on topic. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I don't disagree with this, necessarily, but I don't think failure to do that makes one ''thin skinned'' just different. It certainly doesn't make the rudeness any less rude.
And most of us fail to be 100% consistantly polite.
I just stuck my head out onto the board for a minute and remebered how very dogmatic people can be!0 -
I'm not particularly thick-skinned, but I think it's counter-productive to respond to the insults. It's better to ignore them, and the bullying will stop sooner that way.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

FC - a quick tongue in cheek question - 'S' have announced they will have Primark franchises in some of their stores - doesn't that kind of devalue the brand?!
I haven't had time to go onto the trade press website and read the comments......I'll try later today......seems a bit odd ...but they are opening P in the out of London stores....I know about sales in those and they are worlds apart from London.
Does it devalue the brand? My 1st reaction was yes but the announcement got people talking about them (so free press) and it will be interesting to see how it pans out. Maybe they are aiming for a more meritocratic retail concept
Talking of London I am still waiting for my new space which is now 4 weeks late due to circs nothing to do with us....and it was a big delivery that did arrive on time.
Is everyone well?0 -
Umm, what is 'S' store? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Well said LIR. Some of the bully boys at that time, really showed them selves up. I used to wince how some would attack in a sexual manner. A sad loss to our forum imho.0

carolt would always fight for her situation rather than what was right. She was feisty, confrontational, cutting, direct and very frustrating on times.
It wasn't just because it was carolt, but anyone acting like that would have got the same response in an open debating forum.
Do i miss her? Damn right i do!
I'm not sure about the "sexual attacks" she got as i don't remember them but i do feel she mainly gave as good as she got and it's a pity she couldn't control her "emotions" better on times or handle the consequences.
That said. I'm pretty sure i speak for most in saying we miss you carolt :A0 -

I think she, in turn, was as condescending to them.
I have respect for people who debate accurately and declaring if they have a vested interest but she was just basically pretending that she made the right decision no matter what.
Sorry, I don't miss her.
Welcome back pobby. Glad to hear things are improving.
I'm reading but have too many things going on (and are much much too boring to be detailed on here) and November is a washout already.0 -
Umm, what is 'S' store?

Don't I know it - their are a few truffle posts out there but but you have to root through a lot of sh*t to find them. I had to stop posting on the Eugenics thread that started off so reasonably.lostinrates wrote: »I just stuck my head out onto the board for a minute and remebered how very dogmatic people can be!I think....0
