Pastures, I have a technique for dealing with the local authority when they won't do things. years ago, I had some dealings with SS and Education for a family member.
I simply turned up at 4pm, with a book, and refused to leave until whatever was outstanding was dealt with. Now, they could have simply gone home, leaving me there. Or they could have called security to have me thrown out, but the thing is that they had a guilty conscience, because they had been delaying things. So, this always worked on the several occasions when I resorted to it.
Do please be absolutely polite, and on no account become aggressive. Just sit in the waiting room, with an expectant air. Explain when you arrive why you are there and refuse to be fobbed off with anything short of a resolution of the issues.
In your case, I imagine you want:
As you have been waiting 5 days since your call, all the information that they should already have given you.
An appointment within the next 48 hours for an initial assessment.
Umm, anything else?
Make a list and hand it over, then sit tight. Put on the list that you are Aspie.
BTW, how do you manage without a printer? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Oh, btw, the book is to make it clear that you are not leaving. A flask of tea and a picnic would be equally good, if not better. The book helps pass the time of course until they are desperate to leave. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

I don't have one either...or rather its in a box somewhere and the cartridges are probably more expensive than I can justify.
Luddites like me have these wonderful things called ''pens'' which we make marks on stationary with when something isn't emailable. If its a recipe or something you just take lap top to place.0 -

In the last 2 years I've had to use a printer once, to print off one temporary National Trust membership card.... which I did in the Library for about 10p.
If I'd had a printer, I'd have printed off loads of stuff I'd never read..... I'd be creating clutter.0 -

Somebody based at the Hospital who specialises in communications with learning disabilities will be with us tomorrow - to ask the questions for us and make sure we understand the answers. That'll be good as we've no idea what we should be asking and would probably not understand their answers, or the implications of choices if given 2-3 choices.
Thank you viva.0 -
That's great news Pastures. Even though the situation is still horrible, I hope you will quickly start to feel less of the horrible out-of-control-no-idea-what's-going-on feeling.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Just had another alert moment.... sudden violent-sounding choking/screaming noise ... rushed off. Old's tried to swallow some water and choked on it, and it's all down their front. Dispensed paper towels, asked if it's different/worse and if I needed to call a Doc .... was adamently told nothing's changed... tomorrow everything will be OK.... and then we had the whole meds confusion again ...
So confused, so often ... and dire. The old is really suffering and holding onto the thought of tomorrow as being the time when things will become better, by magic.0 -

What a great group of mates you have here, PN!:A
I'm so impressed. Viva is a Star!:)
It was unbearably hot where I was today, flogging plants, so when the rush eased I sloped off to the van, lay down across the front seats, dozed off and...gave myself sun stroke.I've seen kids do it before, so I recognise the symptoms and I should know better.:o
The polytunnel is hardly a sudden thing, as I bought the kit this time last year! I got so far with the 16 holes, and then other stuff came along, like needing a new roof on our log store before winter. After that, it was seriously cold with frozen ground/snow etc. There's a spring on site too. So, imagining the holes filling with water, we transferred our attentions to a 3 month tree removing job, throughout which the weather was abnormally dry! It wasn't until May that I got back to digging, and by then we were in bed rock, so progress was pathetic. It wasn't till this month that I had all the foundation tubes concreted-in.
Lir knows all the above, so I can't fib! :rotfl:0 -

I said nothing. In fact I am always awed by how much you get done. Today I pulled some weeds, watered everything, fed everyone, cleaned everyone (geese are filthy critters!) and had both parents here at different times. And that is it. Didn't even finish the washing up.
Feel swamped with mess and flakes of paint atm. What can I lie on the floor to catch melting paint that doesn't catch fire/burn? Old fleece throw melted, and the newspaper was a big mistake:o:o
Its not been so hot here today, but feels like a storm is brewing somewhere out there nonetheless.0
