WOW! That's amazing
I always found the following very entertaining and it still makes me smile. Notice the date, but a few on the "variety shows" since have copied him to some extent and tried to pass it as "ground breaking"...

When I was doing my first very, very lowly job in banking the Big Boss called me over to him. He was standing at a desk with a thin pile of printed A5-A4 sized papers and something that looked like a big hole punch.
He gave me the papers and said, "Know what these are".
"Urm, no".
"They're bearer bonds. We're holding them as security or at least we were. We no longer need the security."
There were about 27 of them, each with a face value of US$1,000,000. I put them into the 'hole punch' and pulled the handle. The date was punched in holes through the bonds. $27,000,000 had become worth $0. I was earning £6.50 an hour at the time. Now that's a weird feeling. Bearer bonds are pretty much as they describe them in the movies, they are effectively cash. Of course if you rock up to your bank with a $1,000,000 note they will ask you a lot of !!!!!! type questions and you will almost certainly get your collar felt.
I don't really understand that bit about punching a hole through the bearer bonds. If the need for security was ended, surely the bonds should have been returned to whoever provided them as security? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I'm not sure, but I think bearer bonds are drawn on some bank - like a cheque, but payable to whoever's got them (the bearer). So if you invalidate the bonds, the money remains in the bank where the bonds were from. From the point of view of the originator, destroying them is much safer than having them returned to you, with the risk that they could get stolen or whatever in transit. But I'm guessing.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I never spend anyone else's money - barristers don't handle client funds....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Some days you just shouldn't get out of bed. Still not eating anything but nipped out to buy some milk for the kids for breakfast and came back to the car in Morrisons to find someone had kindly let their trolley rool in to the back of the car leaving a nice dent in the tailgate

I took the advice and put the tickets on Ebay yesterday evening with a buy it now figure....the auction was live for 7 minutes before they sold.
As speed was of the essence and the postal system not always to be trusted, we arranged to meet to transfer cash and tickets just outside of Colchester (fuel money was paid obviously) and the boys enjoyed the drive out, especially since my fuel economy drive has meant no non essential driving trips to be undertaken.
With some of the money received, I treated the boys to a meal out, so they at least got some benefit out of it.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

This is good news! My only concern is that when you met someone you only know online you did so in a place you're absolutely comfortable with, rather than an out-of-town location.
Sorry if I sound like your mum here, or if I 'm teaching my gran to suck eggs! Ebay's obviously used by sensible people but with that many subscribers there's bound to be a few Farty McWeirdos bouncing around in there.

No need to worry zagubov, I made sure I picked an extremely busy and open area complete with security cameras to make the exchange....and further backed up by my impressively big and hard looking 15 year old son (although youngest son who was also with us is not impressively big or hard looking)
I do know the road pretty well and the service station (the location was my choice) and I made sure that I didn't stray to the outer edges of the site and thus away from the protection of others..if I had been on my own or it was happening at night or in an out of the way place, there is no way I would have done the exchange in person.
But it's nice to have someone to worry about me....thanks.We made it! Singlesue, I once ended up in a similar ticket situation, not quite the same but with some parallels.
For my last birthday, DW who knows my tastes well, bought us all tickets to see Derren Brown’s latest show. Unfortunately DS broke his arm and we spent the evening in casualty then children’s ward.
Rang round as many mates/workmates as I could and gave the tickets to workmates who could go at short notice. Gave them all four tickets to see if they could sell any on but no success. Still, they saw most of the show and enjoyed it where otherwise the tickets would have been wasted. Gave us a nice prezzy afterwards too- wasn’t required but a nice touch.
Very nearly chucked the tickets in the bin, but now glad someone got the use of them.
Incidentally I’d recommend this guy who Derren’s a big fan of- Prof Richard Wiseman. His books are great and try this youtube video - "The Prediction"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv9nleiFogc
His books are worth finding in the library or if you're lless MSE than me, buying and reading!
Sorry about my earlier ramblings. When I was younger I never had a thought about personal safety, not out of bravery but more out of thoughtlessness and ignorance.
Once I had kids, though.... It's like a whole new part of my brain switched on.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Top tip of the day: If you own a house with somebody and you've written wills ... take time to double check that they don't contradict themselves upon a death
Having to do a reversion next week... that's two big errors holding things up.
And online earnings are shot.... completelly shot ... and all I can do is sit and watch it die as I don't have the time to myself, nor space/peace to even start to resurrect it ... £7 today! Hardly dared look to be honest
I think I have a plan ... but can't even start it until I move out ... and even moving out doesn't help much as the very next day I need to be back here carting the old about for signatures for something... it's never-ending...
Need to get my head down for a solid 3-6 months without interruption to get my online stuff back on track ... and all of that time I'll be typing with fingers crossed still
I wonder how tomtom's book is going.....0
