Yes and no. Going very fast round a course has of course got risks, but these are professional drivers with highly advanced cars and bikes (in this case, a bike) and courses designed to minimize the risks... actual fatal injuries are rare, probably rarer than horse racing.
No one wants a motor sport driver dying, but it is ultimately a risk... just like it is a risk in many other sports, such as rugby or cricket.
It's just terribly sad to have two (albeit in different motorsports but both at the top of their game) dying in two weeks. I'm sure both incidents will rightly lead to an investigation into safety in the respective discipline. Indy needs to adopt some of the safety measures of F1, imo; and in the case of Simoncelli this morning we need to understand why his helmet flew off given that they are designed not to. As tomterm says, motorsports are dangerous, but thankfully death is rare and probably more likely in lower formulae where the skills aren't as honed and the safety elements aren't quite as great. It's just a great shock to me as a motorsports fan to see two so close together.
Anyhow, I'm off this afternoon to see purch's team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play the Chicago Bears at Wembley. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I feel differently on the indie compared to other motor sports, it seems like it is inherently designed to be more dangerous than really necessary, given the absence of many safety features, and the number of people on the grid, and the nature of the track.

In Wales last week. Plastic bags are now chargeable by law. Fair enough for food, not much effort to take your carriers into Tesco; but in clothes shops its a pain. Buy clothes for £70 and be asked for another 5p for the bag, or carry the clothes without the bag. Makes shoplifting easier if loads of customers are carrying unbagged clothes out of the store.
Are you a Cardiff girl silver?
I've spent many a nice time in South Wales and It's got some lovely views.
A bit like Scotland except in Scotland, every field has a boundary fence/wall to the road and in Wales there is a lot of open areas.0 -

I seem to be having issues thanking peeps, so I apologise for that...:o
I'm dropping by quickly, as in my business recently, I haven't had chance to mention going to see Adam Hills stand up show 2 weeks ago. I'm going to see James do a gig with a choir & orchestra monday. I'm then off to see Blackpool illuminations (not been since I was a kid, & thought "why not!" so I'm off there overnight:))
Was really miserable at 2.30pm yesterday. It was a lot better by 2.32 though...:o

Any nice people know how to get a (medical) second opinion of someone's notes, without alerting them that you think that more treatment options could be available elsewhere?
Got a centre of excellence that is happy to see people for second opinions and can in some cases offer treatment not available elsewhere (due to more advanced equipment etc), but need to get the notes reviewed to see if this is possible without causing panic that current treatment won't offer a long term solution.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I seem to remember there was some discussion on this thread recently. I'd been thinking about having them fitted, however having read this I'm not too sure? The future of the booming solar industry is in doubt, as the cash strapped Coalition considers slashing the subsidy for feed-in tariffs (FITs), which pay homeowners for producing energy.
The Department of Energy may cut up to 75 per cent in FITs, which insiders said would ‘kill the industry stone dead’.

Supposedly eisting customers until end of March will be OK but new customers thereafter will get much less - be interesting to see what happens to panel prices once the subsidy is cut and whether there will still be interest in companies to rent people's roofs.mystic_trev wrote: »I think....0
