So the Stone Roses confirm their return.
    I won't be going.
Not too sure on them "live" but the above is simply brilliant.
LJ? Must be right up your street?

With all the bad blood, public spats, Squire's artwork saying he'd never desecrate the grave of the stone roses, this smacks of £££££ to me.

I was never into the roses first time round. Got into them later. They've written some great tunes, but Brown live is awful (Reading 1996 was a particular disaster!) It just looks to me that they're after the wonga & no more.

I quite liked second coming at first, one or 2 tracks on it are great (Begging You is huge!)

I reckon prices, as well as the clamour, for tickets will be ridiculous.

In short, "meh". Doubt I'll go, unless someone offers me a freebie.

On ebay, years ago I was a right demon, especially for records (I love vinyl!)

I stopped as I did get a couple of records not as described, as well as another item which never arrived. At the same time I got a couple of items where, to be honest, I overpaid (& believe me, that is RARE for me!) I honestly looked at some of what I'd bought & then pictured my reaction to seeing it in a shop with the price tag on. I knew I'd got carried away with the bidding.

There are a select number of items I was delighted to find, & which still give me great pleasure & joy.

Bizzarrely, a few friends now proclaim ebay as a miracle (despite looking at me with some disdain when the roles were reversed years ago). I wonder whether ebay is a phase we all need to go through?

That said, in the downturn etc, I'm wondering if there may be more bargains on there, as people are selling off more stuff? Or will demand on there increase with folks looking for bargains?

michaels, to get you out of your short term problem of lack of heat and sick small child, would getting a couple of electric radiators in, just so you've got some heat, be feasible? You can pick them up at a reasonable price from Argos etc (maybe even eBay). I have a couple here which you are welcome to borrow but they aren't the most powerful ones as they were bought for small rooms in my house.

I know you shouldn't have to, but at least you'll have heat. It's also useful to have a spare in case, somewhere down the line, you have to have the heat turned off again mid-winter.

Also a fan heater is useful for a quick blast of air - to warm up a bedroom for a short while to get dressed, or to warm up the bathroom so you can have a shower (sorry, assuming you have hot water).

It's a horrible situation to be in. I hope it gets sorted quickly.

    Aaaargh!!!

That's exactly the sort of thing I'd be daft enough to do after half a bottle of A'bunadh.

Now you've got me wondering if you can set up an alcohol interlock to prevent you from logging onto ebay while drunk!!

I'd better go look on ebay.:o

Virgin Mobile in Aus offer a service where you can prevent yourself from texting certain numbers until the following am. They offer another service where you call 767 (SOS) from your phone and hang up. Shortly afterwards an operator will call you with an excuse for you to leave a situation (date, MiL's cat's birthday party etc).

Heating's had to be on here, because of the old. Can't have an old dying just for the sake of trying to save 20p/day. Having said that, the house is cold/draughty and the heating's only on in the living room/their bedroom.... just been into the living room and they've obviously been in/out and left the door open as the living room's cold. So I pointed this out to them and will leave them to stay cold and reflect on this door thing.... it's sunny outside so I know they won't die.

The old doesn't understand the heating, so can't turn it on themselves (I'm struggling to pick the right on/off times on the clock, which has two lots of each per day) .... and the old daren't use the gas fire in the room since I found them asleep with the gas on, but the flames not lit a few months back.

I find Ebay overpriced especially if you can compare a 'like for like' to Amazon, there are quite a few scammers on there. It is good for oddities that you wouldn't find on other places.

Curiously, I was looking at some 172 pin MicroDimms for my daughter's laptop. £33 from Amazon and £30 from ebay. Same product, same firm. Do Amazon charge them more, maybe?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I mostly find it the other way round, recently bought some fold up glasses for a fiver, the same price by the same supplier on Ebay and Amazon but the Amazon deal was free delivery.

For higher priced items I will generally call and ask how much without the ebay/paypal 'tax' - scored a nice £100 off my bath (on which the ebay price was already £100 less than the company website price). Bath due to arrive today or tomorrow so that will be the moment where I decide whether it was a grand well spent. If they won't do a non-ebay discount then at least topcashback gives 40% of the sellers fees back (generally about 3-4% of the total purchase price).

Viva. I have an electric rad I have been using for a couple of weeks and actually have a couple more in the shed which I haven;t got out as I didn't want the builder to think it wasn't an issue. Last night when he failed to fix it he went to Homebase and bought 2 more electric rads. Problem is the main kitchen/dining room has one wall completely off just can not be made warm with eletric rads and we have so much clutter elsewhere that we can not manage not using that room.
    I think....
