I can't wear soft lenses. They don't correct my vision enough. I wear rigid gas permeables but they always need fitting. Well, they apparently need a better fit than the last one i got.

the last optician (from high st chain) over corrected my right eye for my astigmatism by over 100, so the contact lenses from that prescription would have been not quite right as well.

And although I have bad astigmatism in my right eye, I wear a standard lens there and a toric lens in my left eye. :rotfl::rotfl:

We are making cider today. Let's see if we are a good team.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Well, glad the horses had another check up. Old girls teeth are fine, but when special girl has her next routine appointment she has to be sedated and they need to use power tools to cut off a bit of tooth. :(

Re question 1. After the first £25, her income will be deducted £ for £ from her JSA. If her wages are below circa £170(ish) she should continue to get topped up to around £170 via a small bit of JSA. She'd continue to get full hb/ctb. Essentially, she'll be £25 a week better off.

Once she gets to 16 hours+ per week, JSA goes. She'd qualify for tax credits. You can claim for up to 70% of childcare costs (this includes afterschool clubs IIRC) & depending on the level of income, may still get a little hb/ctb.

She'd continue to get the 25% single person discount with C tax.

All the above assumes no-one in the household has a disability or is a carer.:)

Direct gov site says you only get to keep £20.

Working 14 hours for £20 doesn't make sense, particularly if you add travel costs etc

    Apologies to Aberdeenangarse :o

I'm sure half the posters here are from all over the country!

It just seemed that in my brief visits to this thread, Wolverhampton's about the most northernmost town I can recall getting mentioned more than once.

    It's a city!:naughty:

Sad news fellow petrolheads. British Indy racing car driver, Dan Wheldon, has died following an awful 15 car pile up at today's race in Las Vegas. Although they went into different branches of the sport he was a contemporary of and raced against Jenson Button, though a couple of years older. This is very, very sad. He leaves a wife and two small children.

I just saw the crash on Eurosport news. I'm surprised there weren't more deaths TBH. It was horrific.

Honestly, they won't be cross. Churches put on activities for oldies for two reasons:
    1) Because they want to be nice to the oldies. This is mandated by various bits of the gospel that say "God has been unimaginably nicer to you than you deserve so now you should be nice to other people." OWTTE
    2) Because they hope some of the oldies will think church is a good thing and come along to the services and discover what this Jesus thing is all about. Likewise, this is mandated by bits of the gospel that say "God has been unimaginably nicer to you than you deserve, so now you should tell other people about it so they can get in on it too." OWTTE
    I think....

No, not been confirmed, didn't even know that was the word for it. Nor's the old to my knowledge - the old had never come across it before either as it'd never happened in churches they'd been to in the past. Old spent most of their childhood in local churches as they had stuff going on in them.... just not 'religious'. Old likes churches and a sing song.

Thing was, suddenly, in the middle of everything, when people are telling you that you can go ... you kind of feel you should be going .... I had time to read the paragraph about taking the book and I did that ... and I told the old/pointed it out, but the old wasn't listening/understanding, so didn't take the book so I thought that'd be confusing so I 'made' them take the communion as they didn't have a book to grip onto. There wasn't time to think/discuss/sort it out .... suddenly it was our pew's turn and it was go or be left behind, alone .... the new and rude people.

    :)

I just thought it'd seem rude or peculiar to not do it, especially as everybody else seemed to be and we were new and didn't want to look like rude people.

Apart from the odd early adopter (who are no doubt seen as wierdos/toffs/magicians) I don't think they have the internet north of Birmingham do they?

There's some bloomin location-ists on this here thread. I'm wondering if I'll still be friends with any NP's by the time I've caught up...:(
