Does he have any acting ability? Seriously, I have no idea.

Not really. It's limited to muscle flexing, kicking bad guys and looking menacing.

I have indeed. Not tried it, though.

Now I can justify everything on the grounds I am trying it out for the nice people.

BTW at only £7 its worth it.

    Do you mean me?

At about 1.30pm, I walked from Gray's Inn down to Breams Buildings (just off Chancery Lane) and back again a couple of hours later. I wasn't around Temple today.

I imagine NDB is supposed to be your OH - neverdespairboy.

A lot's been going on here since I was last on the thread, but just a few comments:

Pastures - I'm sorry to hear you're facing such a lonely and distressing time sorting out stuff in the house by yourself. In a way, though, I'm pleased that you're having the opportunity to move on from a phase of powerless frustration to a situation where you can make progress and know you are moving towards the place of your own that you have always wanted. I mean progress in the sense of sorting the stuff out and selling the house, and also in the sense of having space to grieve and cry.

lir - you have such a positive attitude: whatever life throws at you, it never seems to take you long to bounce back into your "onwards and upwards" way of looking at things. I absolutely could not deal with that kind of uncertainty, and I hope fir is home again soon.

Sue - I agree with everyone else:
    a) It is between middle son and ex-dad (so called because he hasn't functioned as a dad for years), and not your problem.
    b) Unless you were to manage to make your boys like and admire ex-dad (which he has made impossible because he's a jerk and they're not idiots), he will blame you anyway, so there's no point trying to avoid it.
    c) You know, we all know, anyone with half a brain knows that he's a useless dad but won't admit it and prefers to blame you. So what? You have to start learning not to care whether he blames you for stuff, since it's so entirely irrelevant to anything of importance.

michaels - I feel for you with the building work. We do at least have heating here (and hot water too), but I have
    1) a shower over the bath that you can't stand up to use because there's no screen or curtain or anything to keep the water from going everywhere
    2) huge holes gouged in the wall of my bedroom where the shower has been connected through to the ensuite
    3) still no curtains 7 months after moving in (although we do have blinds apart from the landing)
    4) a big gap in the flooring in the hall
and a bunch of other stuff.

We haven't seen him since the beginning of last week. He promised he'd be here at 5pm today to sort out the place where the new fridge is going to go.... It's now six. Hmm. I am hopeful of getting him to do the fridge space soon, though. He's very good at doing small things if I make a convincing case for why they're exceptionally urgent, and the new fridge freezer is being delivered next Friday. This is because the people who are going to rehome our old fridge freezer (functioning but won't fit in this kitchen, so taking up far too much space in the hall ATM) are moving within the next couple of weeks, and will need it when they move.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Went to Chirk castle today, it is just down the road but I have never been before, it was excellent and a great hands interactive history lesson, thanks to the resident bowman, I now know how to make protective mail, he also kept the little one interested for a good while. ;) I was so impressed with the magnificent gardens, I thought of how you lot would just love them, BTW I thought black sheep were singular, there are hundreds there.

the first part of your post I saw was ''not seen him since last week'' and ''big holes'' and I thought it was about the rodent!!!!!

re attitude...choice is sink or swim in life.....I haven't really learnt how to deflate my lungs, so what choice is that! ;)

(on the internet red eyes, run mascara and stress acne doesn't show ;)). Seriously....no choice but to ''go with it'' so might as well be as least glum as one can be. Also, its v. tough for him so want to stay bouyant for his benefit too.

Given that you all hadn't heard of having your nails gelled, have you heard of threading? (Eyebrows rather than nails).

    Hercule Poirot, Eddy Merckx?

Course, wheezy could also be either Kim Clijsters or Justine Henin on the quiet ;)

I always thought Poirot was a fictional character :)

So we already have Van Damme, Herge, Clijsters, Henin, Merckx and Poirot. Add Adolphe Sax and we come to 7 famous Belgians. Who ever said Belgium was boring?? :D
