yee gads.
We might be about to be upgraded historically....which could be ominous for our planning apps!!!0 -
Pepper harvest is very disappointing this year compared to last. Got some small habaneros and cayennes hanging, but not enough to be self sufficient in the pepper department!
Tomatoes are almost finished here...taste-wise it was a good year, size-wise it was bad
I suspect that I'll have to bring the pepper plants in. Never grown peppers before, got some seeds in a pack & thought I'd have a go. If it works, I'll be happy. At least I've tried.
Haven't eaten a tomato yet, as I planted late, & there were 1 or 2 going red but they had that blossom end rot. However there are some big fruits on there. I'm just relieved that the blight from last year didn't return.lostinrates wrote: »yee gads.

Is it worth getting the planning apps submitted quickly? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

not the way planning work, they are glacial.
They were submitted a while back, we should know in three weeks what's happening....but ...urgh...its a long story!0 -

So if you're granted PP, would it be best to start work asap? ie before the historical "upgrade" threatens to put the kybosh on stuff? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Dunno!
TBH, nothing we plan really impacts on the historical nature itself: we bought an old house because we want an old house, not to damage that (in many, many cases we are restoring, but the historical people a: don't seem to know whats old and whats new, and b: don't live here to see where old can be better preserved by change).
e.g. we can't really crack on with ohase one, because its too late in the year. If we were to do what the council have done (unsympathetic mortars etc) we could, but we want to use traditional lime mortars...which mean doing it with a no frost guarantee!
On the plus side, we might get to change the name of the house (which I hate) to an older historical one.0 -
If you have asked for planning permission, you might need to get a certificate of immunity, although I have no idea how you'd go about doing that. (otherwise, I think once listed building status is given, you'd probably need to apply yet again because the planning permission wouldn't be at the right grade).“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

we're already listed...and got the nod from listed building officer that he was very happy with our plans after the funny site meeting last week. :T just the rest of the planning dept now.0 -
Oh, fair enough... so, what do you mean by upgraded historically?“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

well, there is more than one grading of listing, and so far we've got off quite lightly! Apparantly new research into the history of the holding...not the house...is throwing up something that could potentially be a little more significant.:o0 -
Sorry you're having such a frustrating time, LJ. Hope it gets better soon.
Ditto to above to LJ. It must be hard as I guess there are layers of people/rules above the job, some made by people who have never been front-line. If that's part of it...I sympathise as it must feel so frustrating. I will try and log on 'over there' later.lostinrates wrote: »Its so beautiful again today, its just gorgeous. I feel GREAT today.I visualised the cats and made me smile too.

Ancient burial mound? What was that valuable stuff that was in another place? Gravel or sand I think? (Going to reply to you as well now as didn't get a chance last night.)
