That's not really on is it ... I mean ... we're your mates. You need to be teaching US how to be doing the same too!

    :)

Seems like the key is to get married, live frugally off one partners income, and save all the money from the other. Plus, work hard, and do plenty of overtime.

Personally, I prefer a nice get rich quick scheme, this sounds like a get rich slow scheme.

Oh shush. LJ is a poppet and I think he'd like a grilfriend, he has some hair, most of his teeth and nice eyes....I wanna know what his exxcuse is for holding himself back. :)

    Confidence? Or shyness?

Don't worry about DH, he knows the most I'd do with another man in the bedroom is make him try on outfits I'd bought or wax eyebrows. :)

LJ, are you shy in real life, really? You are the first to reach out with help and reassurance here often.

Do you actually meet single, available women?

That's very kind of you to say.

We'll see. It's time for me to stop coasting in life again. I've had my feet up for almost 3 years and now I need to get my poo together. Posting on here takes a lot of my time and more importantly a lot of 'head space' that I need to use more profitably for a while.

In addition, make sure you keep up with the fantasy footy!

Very. It is easy to do behind a keyboard. When at work & stuff I have a role I'm in, & that role involves saying stuff to people, even complete strangers etc. I am confident in what I do & what I know work-wise, & because it is expected in the role, then I can get away with stuff.

When I am "me" (ie not at work) I don't have that shield. I guess I think too much about how what I say & do & stuff will be percieved, & probably worry too much that I'd be seen as aloof, or uncool, or an idiot. So I clam up & stare at my shoes & stuff.

    I don't meet single/available women. Actually, I don't know how to tell if a woman is single/available.:o

LJ, I so wish we were in the same room so I could give you a hug, and then a slap. :)

Here, are you yourself (apart from the shyness?) doesn't it tell you something that we all like you? Uncool is only really relevant for teens. After that most adults realise its only uncool to worry about ''cool''. Doing what you want without caring what people think but without causeing harm or hurt is cool.

The idiot thing.....the best people are slightly idiotic aren't they?

Hmmm.... I really wish you were local.

Works in theory, but after the "get married" bit along come kids. There is nothing as expensive as kids.

Aww, I will miss your posts Generali...always very informative.

Last day of school holidays here, eldest has been allowed to stay on in the 6th form after his very eek AS level results but he has hit the reboot button and is doing different subjects bar one, so it will mean not leaving next September as planned but the year after....I thought it was a very mature decision as a fair few youngsters (and I was one of them), would have given in and most certainly would not have signed up for 3rd year at school.

He has taken the view it is much better to get it right and do it now even if it means staying on an extra year than not and possibly regretting it in later years. I did think his choices last year were a step too far bearing in mind his dyslexia but he could not be told and I didn't want to be overbearing and so it proved true but I think the subjects he has chosen now are more to his likes and strengths....although he will not stop creative writing and poetry, his short stories are very haunting, very dark (he once got the school very worried about his mental state when he wrote a short story regarding suicide in the first person!)

I know a lot who have decided to restart year 12. Either with completely new subjects or to improve on current grades. I also know a lot who are changing schools as well as subject and some who are starting some new subjects and keeping with some existing, so doing 2 A2s next summer plus an AS and A2 at the same time in a new, or even applying to uni with 2 A levels, an AS from this year and an AS from next.

I also know schools who are forcing people out if they haven't got decent grades to continue. A local school is refusing to enter anyone for A2 who didn't get a "C" grade in AS; no wonder their results look good - they've booted out anyone who may harm their results.

All the kids seem to be resitting units in January. Even if they got a low A in a paper, it seems the flavour of the times is to resit that paper to get more points, so less points are needed in the Summer.
