Wouldn't believe this if I hadn't seen the letters. Mother gets caught speeding 36 in a 30. Much teasing as we all think she drives fast. So she writes a letter asking to be excused as Dad had just been diagnosed with C, she didn't want to leave him alone for long.....and gave the numbers of the doctors if they wanted to verify. We all tell her she has no chance and will end up on a speed awareness course......they let her off, decided not to take further action.

If they didn't come clean (which it sounds like) I say hit 'em with a complaint. See if they offer you some vouchers etc
If they owned up then I say let 'em off.

Depends what's left. If it is uprooted, they've saved you a job. If your left with a concrete stalk that needs further work then claim.

Blighted Busy lizzies. Now virtually decomposed. Do I need to remove them? Can I plant busy lizzies in future years or is the ground now contaminated? Could it spread to other bedding plants?

I think any type of blight once you have it is likely to recur. It's a fungus and spores live for years in the soil.
My tomatoes are always in the greenhouse and in growbags but always get it.

The lobelia isn't effected, so does that mean other bedding plants are safe?

    Spoooky....or what?

I picked up a Yellow Book of Devon gardens this morning which I've not looked at since its aquisition in Spring. As I opened it, I idly turned on the radio to find someone being interviewed about their garden. It was the person whose name I was just reading, in random fashion, somewhere in the middle of the book. Not only that, but she turned out to be married to someone who taught me hedge-laying in January.

Last Sunday, I was at a garden party and, thanks to a slight misunderstanding, I found myself talking to someone about a house 15 miles away, which I've known since childhood. I've never been inside, or even down its drive, and I'm sure I've never discussed this house with anyone before. About two or three hours before that conversation, and unknown to both of us then, a young man was murdered at a party there in what was probably some crime of passion. It's on the front page of the local newspaper.

I hope the Tesco delivery guy is driving steadily.....

It's a specific thing that hits impatiens. You're safe.

Tomato blight spreads from potato crops and can travel up to 40 miles (I think) There's no escape, unless you keep the leaves dry.

I have Quince leaf spot. In order to save my Medlars, I think my quince will have to to get the chop. (Medlars are grown on quince rootstocks.) :(
