Well i've really done it now. Has been slightly better behaved with me transferring items to my SD card but crashed about an hour ago and won't get past the welcome screen. !!!!!!!

Just looking at the HTC site and it says after the 12 month warranty is over out of warranty charges apply. Now, I could argue soga, but would need to prove inherent fault. Oh well, shall ring tomorrow.

It is an inherent fault. You should not have a problem. See if you can find that thread on Vodafone's forum and you will have your evidence.

Called the helpline and they are coming to get it. Spoke to them about it and the agent seemed to know what the problem was. He confirmed that they have 24 months warrenty and i will only be charged if there is liquid damage or clear mis-use (not what it seemed to say on the website)

Shall update when it's fixed as to what they said it was, just in case anybody else has this issue and stumbles over the thread.

    Monday - phone picked up

Tuesday - i web chatted htc who confirmed it was in the repair centre

Thursday - in packing. web chatted htc who said i will get an email upon dispatch with tracking info. asked when ups deliver as they have my work address and nobody there on weekends. advised i ring ups and tell them upon receiving dispatch email

Friday - web chatted htc who said they didn't know what repairs had taken place but it was say on the papers that came with the phone. they didn't know when it would be dispatched and no, i couldn't change the delivery address with ups

Friday - 3 hours after web chat stating not getting delivered yet phone turns up. called htc as the repair information was not on the sheet with the phone who couldn't tell me what they had done and ring back next week. they couldn't explain why i didn't get an email or was told the phone hadn't been dispatched

Friday - got my phone all set up. three hours work to personalized everything and CRASH, CRASH, CRASH (now currently working)

Not a happy bunny!!!!!!!! speed of service good, quality of repair seriously lacking and customer service friendly but clueless.

I will be ringing tomorrow to demand information on what has been done to my phone. I have a feeling that they haven't bothered changing the mother board just reset the phone.

If they haven't I want a bl**dy good explanation as to why not since it's a well known fault with the early models and if they have changed the motherboard then i shall be asking for a totally new phone as i fail to see what else could be done if a new motherboard doesn't fix the issue.

Rant over. Shall keep you updates for those who care lol he he he

After calling HTC they informed me they:

    replace touch panel
    replace antenna
    replace bezel
replace button (except for action button)

I asked if the mother board was replaced and they said no. I explained the details to the member of staff who was just as baffled as me as to why they had not done this as it's pretty clear cut thats the problem.

God only knows what a 'bezel' is but non of the above impacts the main functions of the mobile so what and why they have done what they have done with the description of symptoms supplied is beyond me.

I explained that i'm self employed and missed quite a bit of work last week and didn't really want to make it two weeks in a row to send the dam thing back since it's working (ish) for now.

I have been advised to cal back monday and speak to somebody as I want a dam good reason as to why they chose not to replace the mother board despite knowing that item is the fault and what the point of fixing everything else was when the basic operational running of the phone isn't correct.

    AAAAAAaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh:mad:

Identical to my problem and experience! Very helpful, got it back after two days - day later same fault!!
Have to have it collected again on Monday. If you look on the internet there are thousands with this problem whatever it is. I will contact my provider of the phone - Virgin to see what they say. I'm on a two year contract but they said the phone (which was free with this contract) was only covered for one year!
I think this problem should be escalated - perhaps by Martin because it is clearly an inherent fault.
