Think I've found our holiday
I have been looking at Shearings holidays, I did a coach holiday to Spain years ago with Cosmos but couldn't find any that still did them, but Shearings do, and it will work out at about £900 for ten days (7 nights due to the travel but ds likes coaches and I hate planes
) and we get picked up 2 miles from here and delivered to the hotel, will need to add on insurance etc, and its half board, but ds is a fussy monster so will probably end up eating junk for a week but hey, its a holiday!
So now to pay for it ... I reckon its roughly £1000 - £900 for the hols, then insurance, (got passports etc ....
The £2 pot will be for spending money.
So £1k .... well I have £100 of it already, and I am already nearly reaching my yearly target for the mortgage pot ... I need to find another £1319. The 4 mortgage payments that are left will account for £934, the 4 isa payments will account for £200 meaning I need to find another £185. I am waiting for £60 to come through from dialaphone, £20 from 4 x Halifax payments, which means I need to find another £105, £85 from my extra child benefit payment (13 payments over 12 months), so £20 to go, I currently have a bid of £20 on my ebay item that finishes tomorrow (surely wont go any higher, is a used item that only cost me £16 brand new!), so thats the mortgage challenge complete!! Now I can try and get the holiday well underway before Xmas so that next year can be a fresh assault on the mortgage
So, if you're still following ...I can begin saving the other £900 needed for the holidayDs is already very excited and has counted his piggy bank (£6), and turned the telly off "to save some pennies"

Fab about the holiday, I'll get Paul to do a quote for you as he works in travel insurance, I'm sure he gets a family/friends discount
And yes we'll sort a weekend out in Sept? x"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke

Not sure whether he's seen them before, but I'm sure it's the sort of thing that would appeal to him!0 -

you should get insurance pretty cheaply, look at an annual policy, they can be cheaper sometimes than a 2 week policy.... also if you bank with nationwide, you get european travel insurance free with a flex account.... you won't need £100 for insurance, seriously.....
looking forward to you getting rid of another month of the mortgage, you really inspire me with your term coming down so much...was near your way today, coming home from a few days in weymouth so drove through new forest towards london...0 -
We bank with Natwest and part of our account includes travel insurance. We just ring them up and let them know where & when we are going. Have a look and see if your bank account offers this. It sounds so exciting, I bet you will both love it.0
