Yet more financial faux pas and many other disasterous decisions

The Outlaw in July. It'll be my first one. I did an olympic distance Triathlon last year and a Half marathon but my size does not suit speed so i'm going for distance instead!
Thats a heck of a distance to be going for. I could cope with the swim and the bike ride but the idea of throwing in a quick marathon on top is completely barking and a 17 hour window makes it all the madder. Sounds like my idea of fun though.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Aw its only scary for those who don't routinely get shed loads of exercise without realising it. Its the reason I'm so scrawny. Currently have a BMI of 18.5 which is far too low for any sort of endurance event. Ideally I could do with gaining 15kg of muscle with a little body fat thrown in but its not going to happen any time soon, I loose weight far too easily and have minimal body fat to start with. The instant I do any serious exercise I end up with ridiculously overdefined pecs and calves which makes clothes shopping even more of a nightmare than it already is. Plus once I start the buzz I get makes me go OTT and suddenly Sundays are spent with 8-10 hours in the saddle which is great when you're single but not so great when you have small sticky things demanding your time. Still they won't be small and sticky forever.
In slightly less energetic news (it is only 6:30 on a Saturday) I'm half way through the first hat and have run out of wool. Bah. Have also promised DD2 an alarm clock of her very own which shes determined to buy with her birthday money so we're destined for hell for a couple of hours. Its free listing on Fleabay and I've aquired a Sega Megadrive and a heap of games so that should keep me ammused for quite some time. The stuff I bunged on last week is up to a whopping fiver. Still its more tat out of the way.
Further plans involve much chocolate scoffing and a fair amount of knitting because I'll have two baby hats to do at the beginning of the week asap on top of everything else. At least they're quick.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Um, if I mention that I consider getting out of bed in the morning to be exercise (and bear in mind I really just roll until the bed runs out...), can I still play on your thread please??0 -

*insert confused smiley here* I thought getting out of bed was excercise and as for getting dressed, well, you have no idea how much effort that takes, especially on days like today when riding lessons were cancelled and we slobbed about in PJs until lunchtime when DD2 shrieked as OHs car pulled up outside and we all legged it upstairs to grab clothes so as to give the somewhat misleading impression that we'd actually done something productive with our morning.
As part of my new and improved get on with it without whinging attitude to life (note this is only a temporary foray into the realms of normality) I unloaded yesterdays bin finds from the car, took some absymal photos (which would have been better lit had I acess to a dungeon) and listed the lot on E-bay. Remind me that I did this through choice when I end up spending most of next weekend packaging up parcels.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Dragged the DDs round all manner of department stores and electrical shops and full of the sort of tat you never knew you didn't want but feel strangely compelled to buy anyway kinda shops, finally finding the perfect alarm clock in Tesco.
Had a brief foray into Hobbycraft where I succumbed to the bargain basket purchasing 49p worth of whoopsied black wool as required for inserting pupils into eyeballs on monsters. Spent £2.69 on a single ball of the wool I needed to finish the hat (which is now finished) and have enough left over to knit another two. Have already started on the next hat. Am sick of knitting strawberrys but not as sick as I am of answering inane questions from E-bayers. Surely no international postage means I won't ship to Spain or France or Portugal. Pah. On the brightside I have bids on a quarter of this mornings listings which is most excellent. I also have a desk under seige from Ferrero Rocher wrappers.... well a gal needs an incentive once in a while.
Started on my jumper as a break from knitting hats. Got an inchh into the ribbing before realising that funky as a mobius strip is it doesn't make for a wearable jumper. Had to frog the lot and start again. Will be paying more attention this time round.
Got a wonderful letter from the lovely people at Flogas who took delight in informing me that despite being in credit six months ago we're now in arrears (such is the nature of having tankers of gas deliver in the winter) and so to clear the humungous outstanding balance they've decided to up the direct debit by a mere £45 a month. Daft thing is in two months time our normal payments would have zeroed it anyway in readiness for the next delivery. I forsee a pointless phonecall on Monday whereby they talk to me like I'm a three year old and I try v. hard not to swear at them for saying yeah but no but yeah but no but yeah but no but computer says naaaah. I miss being able to pay for things you actually use as you use them.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
DD2s alarm clock works. Just wish she hadn't set it for 7am the morning after I stayed up far too late watching Bridget Jones for the gazillionth time. meh.
Have many plans for today mostly involving v. dull things like homework, the writing of thank you letters and hopefully much wrapping of e-bay parcels. Have the ends to sew in on yesterdays hat and the second one to attempt to finish ready for tomorrow. Also need to wash PE kits which were discovered festering at the bottom of school bags and I need to write numerous cheques in response to schools many demands. First though need to check the bank balance to make sure the overdraft will cover them on the off chance they clear before payday which is a very long week away.
The endless tidying up and chucking out is finally making a noticable difference. The two rooms I've hammered hard are staying moderately tidy. Going to start on the next room this week although since thats mostly OHs stuff that will be considerably harder than it sounds. Hoping I can bung most of it in the shed, after all its not every dining room that houses a scroll saw and a band saw and three dust covered tool boxes and a model boat which hasn't been touched in about 3 months which has probably lost rather a lot of vital yet esctremely small parts by now. Will see if I can persuade OH to do that part of it to prevent any more bits going awol.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
