Housework going well. Half a box of Ferrero Rocher decluttered. Wheelie bin out. First load of washing on its way to the drier. Having the first of many cuppas before tackling the next bit.

Need to write a shopping list as cats are liable to run out of food by the weekend. Pretty sure OH would appreciate drinkable mik rather than soya on his cereals.

Nora - 'jamas came from the Primark sale. Kids ones were £2 a pair and adult between £5 and £8. The last lot survived longer than the stuff we paid considerably more for in the La Senza sale. Books were thanks to The Works 99p sale which has some lovely stuff, could have spent an awful lot more but was trying v. hard to be frugal. Boots sale was naff. Intended to buy shaving things for OH but he came back to report that someone had nicked the contents of the washbags. Turned out they hadn't but the miserly sods had included 9ml of one thing and 35ml of something else in the bag with a £10 price tag.

I love the way you refer to half a box of Ferrero Rocher being 'decluttered'. I can see me using this myself. Nice way to think about it. In fact I might go downstairs now and do a spot of decluttering. xx

Wind still blowing a hoolie. Had an eventful journey home slaloming around fence panels, tree limbs and a greenhouse that was blocking the road. Chose to make a major detour to avoid driving through the glass left by that which meant encountering more fallen trees. Seems to be getting windier too so the slates on the roof are rattling rather loudly. Ended up with the DDs sleeping downstairs because upstairs was far too noisy. Getting more and more sleep deprived with every passing day.

Have finally finished the hideous orange tea cosy. Its ghaslty beyond belief. Attempted to use the last half of the ball tweeded with dark brown to knit an owl but frogged that after two rows when it became obvious that wouldn't work either. Will rummage through the cupboard and bung it on e-bay as a job lot of leftovers, hopefully someone else will be daft enough to buy it.

Got through some of the laundry yesterday but still have a huge mountain to go. Will tackle more of that today and the x-mas tree. Figure thats enough to be going on with.

X-mas tree has departed for another year. Its now occupying most of the landing in readiness for a trip to the loft but that won't happen anytime soon as there are still a few decorations lurking and I've now daft enough to retrieve the outdoor ones.... I chucked a whole bag full of manky decorations so hopefully next year I'll have a colour co-ordinated tree :)

Gave the strawberry hat to its new owners granny. She was v. happy with it and has ordered a further two hats and a tea cosy and her friend has requested two hats as well. Which means that today was the day that the postie finally brought my Wonderful Wallaby pattern fro the US. Whilst I'm most chuffed to have five paying projects to do that means it will be a fortnight before I can even begin to think about starting the Wallaby for me. Have already rummaged through the wool stash for suitable colours for the tea cosy so I can start that tonight.

Off to tackle the next batch of laundry before starting on the ironing pile.

At 8:25am this morning I had a holy shoite moment of the sort that can only be experienced by someone lurking under the depths of a duvet who discovers that there is daylight where there really should be darkness. Woke the DDs by screaching like a banshee "we're late", phoned my rather bemused boss who was fully aware that I wasn't where I should have been. Bunged toast in the toaster, shoved a brush through the DDs hair and got them dressed in record time even managing a v.v.quick shower. Threw the DDs and their toast in the car and managed to get DD1 to school for 8:45 before heading in the opposite direction with DD2. Rather miraculously managed to get her on the premises before the bell rang. Being able to park in the staff car park is a v. major advantage on days such as this.

Have done an entier hour at work, most of which was irrelevant stuff purely to make it look like I actually did have things to do. As a result the christmas tree is now butchered and in the bin and the entire schools recycling bins have been emptied.

Am now in a state of shock and having my first cuppa of the day where I'd normally be on my fifth.

Have had another two requests for hats which means I have to give in and order some wool, creative as I am I can't improvise ribena coloured wool. Aw schucks.

Further plans for today involve getting through the last two loads of laundry and cleaning the bathroom thats been festering away beneath the detritus. OH took the DDs shopping last night so I can avoid that until monday.

Well done with the hats though, this seems to be taking off, could be quite a lucrative thing Moo. Hope the rest of your day is a little more relaxing.

    Moo2moo,

Not having time to read all 43 pages I may have missed the answer to my question but I couldnt help but notice this in your 2nd post
To learn to run and then complete the Marathon des Sables and the Tough Guy Challenge

Now the tough guy challenge fair enough its a 6 or 7 mile cross country run followed by a few hours stood around getting cold queueing to get over the various wet, stinking obstacles but the MdS is most certainly not something you try half heartedly!

    Firstly, are you bonkers!

Secondly, if the answer to 1 is yes then fair enough and hows the training going?

I'm in the throws of training for an Ironman.

Quite clearly the answer is yes. No sane person would choose to learn Welsh or work out how the !!!! a crochet hook works.

As for training .... well the first part is going fabulously, the part where i increase my calorie intake to cope with the extra demands on my body, the actual running part isn't going too well at all. We're all still recovering from a seemingly endless bout of viruses which means I'm tired to the point of exhaustion most days. On the up side though I have a fairly physical job so my every day routine involves the equivalent of most peoples gym workout minus the lycra (that would probably be a sackable offence) and I tend to finish my day with a 5 or so mile yomp at something approaching a jog with the hound from hell. Mostly with me in hot pursuit as she legs it after a squirrel / rabbit / leaf / imaginary mobile object.

Serious training simply doesn't fit into my day at the mo. there isn't time and pounding the [STRIKE]pavement[/STRIKE] mud encrusted pavementless lanes in the pitch black as the local inbreds perfect their nocturnal rally driving skills is best left to those with suicidal tendancies.

Other than that its going swimmingly.

    Which Ironman are you doing?

Lucrative? *snortles with laughter* Have just abandoned my attempts to purchase yarn on line after hitting £30 without actually buying the stuff I might need. Have had a rummage through the cupboards and think I can just get away with the leftovers from a couple of other things if I'm v. v. v. lucky. If not I'll be nipping to Hobbycraft with cash in my pocket leaving all other methods of payment at home. I've a feeling that will end up being quite a bit cheaper, although no where near as much fun.

The Outlaw in July. It'll be my first one. I did an olympic distance Triathlon last year and a Half marathon but my size does not suit speed so i'm going for distance instead!
