I don't cope. I simply lurch from one disaster to the next.

Missed the church fete, couldn't be arsed getting dressed although the discovery that we'd run out of bread soon sorted that one out. Ventured forth to the newly opened Mr Ms which was heaving with people. Spent £70. Came home and vegged. Feel vaguely more human but I guess half a box of lemsip usually has that effect.

Spent the vast majority of the evening knitting. Am now at the stage I should start the fancy edging but can't help thinking it isn't big enough and maybe I should continue on to the next size up which is a mere 20ish rows and around 5400 more stitches... quite why its not big enough remains a mystery, its not like I'll ever use the thing, it just doesn't feel right. Where are the men in white coats when you need them?

Hope the cold is easing - my Nan always said 'feed a cold' and 'starve anger' ( probably because you get indigestion??) - I would just sit the cold out with some nice cake. Our school is closed to children on Wednesday - some teachers out, no head ,no caretaker and claeners and no dinner ladies therefore H&S kicks in. Anyone not striking ( or non union) is expected to turn up and do the usual hours. A school governor is letting them in.

I hope your illegal immmigrant p!ss taker gets it spelt out to her soon and you get someone moree competent to cover

Seems like you are getting it from all sides at the moment. Your OH idea of buying yet a another heap of junk is astonishing in its tactlessness for a start. I hope you firmly told him what to do with that idea. Or else say sweetly of course you can dear as soon as all landy parts are not in the house again or even on the site at all, oh and you can't just give them away to a mate you have to do the work and SELL them.... to fund the new project. Honestly he is the limit

As it the illegal immigrant. Why is it only your job to deal with this. She should be forced by the school management to go on maternity leave now. She should be shown why she won't be getting all this leave she thinks she will. Throw this task up the management chain to the person who is paid loads to deal with this situation.

and so on Wednesday OH and his friend are nipping out for a bit to look at another Landie. OHs friends second, technically his third roadworthy vehicle. Am somewhat bemused by the boys geographical knowlegege as its somewhere in Lincolnshire. Thats the equivalent of someone from London popping to Penzance. Have reminded him that DD1 has the day off and will be accompanying them and in all likelihood the motorway services will be shut making quick toilet breaks nigh on impossible. Have I said things about this? Oh yes indeedy. More so when I discovered the master plan is to abandon it here until April or so. On the bright side this does mean I have a driveable 4x4 for the winter which will come in handy. Downside is its a 130 (meaning its 40" longer than your average car) so I won't be able to park it anywhere and having learnt from past experience I have to be very careful when cornering as I have a habit of driving over pavements... and not in an oops a tyre made it onto the curb kinda way.

Tis a week of non-stop fun at the grindstone. The christmas tree is being delivered today, x-mas dinner happens on thursday and pretty much brings the place to a standstill for half a day and then theres a late night fundraiser and the school concert dress rehersal to wedge in too.... and two extra humans in the house for the duration. At least its not next week which will be infinately worse.

Need to de-grot the bathrooms as they're wall to wall in dog hair. Have also deflead the hounds and am hoping OH has had the balls to tell his friend that his dog is crawling otherwise I'll be defleaing that the instant it sets foot through the door. Other fun filled plans involve much tidying in readiness for the invasion.

In other news I gave in and started the fancy bit of the shawl, managed a dozen rows of it last night. Figured I could just keep going with this part until I'm happy with it. Have a friend in mind to donate it to for Christmas assuming its finished by the 16th. No pressure there then.

    Ahh Moo

I wonder how you cope sometimes. Try and ignore the 'big boys' as they play with their toy cars. Whats the old saying ... can't live with them. can't live without them'...sometimes I wonder.

Sorry to hear that you are up to your eyes at work etc. Hopefully the week will go ok and try and relax as much as possible to get rid of that cold before it develops into something bigger.

Heading off to work soon and need to straighten this mad mop of hair.

    take care

Ye gads its Tuesday already. I vacuumed my coks off yesterday, cleaned tidied and generaly prepared myself leaveing the kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms to do today... I have ample time or at least I was under the illussion I had ample time. Turns out Oh and friend had another chat, one which changed their arrival time from one of early evening to however long it takes after breakfast which if I'm really unlucky is about an hour from now. Need to recharge before panic cleaning. Of course sods law dictates that if I clean like a dervish they won't show up until 6pm whilst if I veg in slovenly ho mode they'll walk through the door before I finish my cuppa. Either way life would be considerably easier if OH had washed up last night or bunged the last load in the drier as requested but he didn't which meant DD1s PE kit was still wet this morning. Should have checked he'd done it but forgot all about it.

My head is full of negative thoughts, most of them involving cast iron frying pans in close proximity to OHs head.

Worse still I shopped on Saturday, before I knew OHs friend and plus one were coming which means theres only the sort of veggie food in the house that I like which is most definately not that suited to the palette of most normal people... unless of course they happen to like scotch bonnett chillies which the laydee in question most definately does not. Will need to whip up something bland involving lentils at some point. The rest of em are having gammon which I need to lob in the slow cooker in the not too distant future.

In even more frustrating news I zoned out whilst OH was waffling on and on and on about something that I have less than zero interest un which meant ripping back three rows of knitting to move a misplaced yarn over.... the technical term for having a hole in the wrong place. Was most miffed about this. Its still not perfect but its better than it was and I can live with it. Doubt anyone else would notice anyway.... but clearly thats not the point. I know its there and it would have driven me nuts.

On the brightside all this unexpected cleaning means I haven't spent anything at all since Saturday. Go me! Admitedly not through want of trying though. I keep being outbid on e-bay. Am determined to make another shawl, one in shades of purple and fuschia, just because I can.

and finally the cleaner has expressed a desire to start her maternity leave asap... ideally at the end of this week... and its been rejected by the powers that be... instead I'm stuck with her till the beginning of January. Bah humbug.

  • Hmm. Personally I think people who invite themselves early should pay for the takeaway. Can see why you'd be thinking of frying pans.

And has anyone explained to the cleaner yet what her leave actually amounts to, or is she still under the delusion that she can disappear for 365 working days while receiving full pay?
