Sorry to hear that you may be infested with more landy parts. I would have REALLY made a deadline for this getting back together by now. I feel your pain, as my OH built a kit car, BUT it only took him and his dad admittedly a month or two tops, not the years this is taking.
Well done on more throwing out. I too have to do that aswell.
Again
chev. He is very handy and practical but bringing a project to an end before moving on, is not his strong point.

Morning y'all and welcome back Thrifty!
Making the most of OH being incapacitated by utilising his child entertaining skills which means I've filled the hole in DD2s wall and those in the hall way and several more in the kitchen that have needed filling since the kitchen went in just beore DD2 was born. Means much saning and three different colours of paint are now required all of which are guaranteed to have gone off since they were last used. Wonder if I can get away with magnolia feature walls. I suspect not.
Meanwhile onto more fun things. £63 has materialised in my bank account from the ladies of the COuntry Market, clamied another tenner from Shop n Scan which I promptly blew on a starter set of knit pro circulars. Was going to be v. sensible and buy a single fixed circular but it wasn't that much more to buy the set..... in my defence I did try using the cheap circular I got free a while back but the join from cable to needle was awful. Quite why it has a 30 degree bend escapes me. Stitches kept snagging and generally driving me nuts. I suppose at this point I should also admit to starting my shawl whist DD1s gloves remain half done. Figured the shawl would take ages and require a fair bit of concentration as it is I've gone from 11 stitches to 145 in a single afternoon and its taking ten minutes or so a row... longer when the stitches keep getting stuck.
OHs friend arrived yesterday so there are now three large dogs hurtling round the place. Taking them all to the park today in the hopes of tiring them out even a little.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Mornin'
Knitting on the circular needles is tomorrow's knitting class challenge for me as I want to be able to knit seamless hats....the bets are on as to whether the teacher or I start crying first!
3 large dogs sounds like bedlam (though I'll bet it's pretty entertaining too). Dog-sitting for two large ones this evening - always an interesting experience as the largest has no concept of his size, and likes to think he's small enough to sit in your lap....I expect to have vital organs squished.
Congrats on getting some of the DIY done - and fingers crossed that the paint is holding on by its fingertips.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooh the postie has just been bringing with him my Knit Pros and rather fortuitously OH and friend have departed for the morning. All plans of domestic drudgery have been flung out the window whilst I transfer the stitches from old needles to new and road test them for a bit.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Knit Pros rock! Am most happy I gave in and got some. Spent a happy morning and evening knitting whilst he chaps talked Land Rover and other v. dull male things. Did bits of domestic drudgery in between so the kitchen surfaces were clear and the floors dehaired, briefly. Better still I didn't spend any money at all although this is likely to change as I'm being dispatched to Hobbycraft by work. Turns out someone forgot that we'd run out of white facepaint which is needed for this afternoons dress rehersal..... whilst they were discovering this they also failed to track down any black or brown. Too late to get any delivered and its easier to get parked at Hobbycraft than it is at the nearest fancy dress shop in the big smoke which doubles as an adult entertainment specialist, although the mileage I'd get from the head sending me to that sort of a shop would be well worth the added hassle.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Hobbycraft was rather disappointing. They've shuffled everything around and crammed so much Christmas stuff in that they've runout of space for some of the ordinary stuff which has ben relegated to the store cupboard. They'd also sold out of the things school wanted so I ended up ordering them from Amazon for half the Hobbycraft price. Did splurge on a few small really useful boxes to store the stash of Knit Pros that seem to be accumulating. Hoping this prevents any of the bits going missing or the flimsier needles getting broken by accident.
Whilst out and about I also procured a new pair of boots having reached crisis point earlier in the day when the ankle section of my Docs finally parted company with the sole. Now have a pair of DeWalt safety boots which are incredibly comfortable, mind you anything that doesn't leak or have sticky out bits was bound to be more comfortable than the boots they were replacing. Fortunately last weekends sales on E-bay came to a little more than the cost of the boots so the budget isn't as shot as you might think. Its still shot though, but not by as much as you'd think.
Meanwhile finally lost my temper with the illegal immigrant. It wasn't pretty. She did have the balls to tell me she'd cleaned a toilet whilst staring at the giant dried on cling on in question. Will be having further talks with the boss after she burst into tears when told to reclean it and the others in the vicininty which were all in a similar state. She did come and find me later to request a copy of the school holiday calendar for 2013 to work out her maternity leave. Seems shes under the delusion that the 52 weeks paid maternity leave that shes still convinced she qualifies for is 365 days plus all the days she wouldn't normally work ... weekends, bank holidays, school holidays... the whole shebang. Seems shes thinking of finishing work the day the baby arrives and returning sometime around Christmas 2013. Meh.
OHs friend departs tonight. OHs has enjoyed having him around... so much so that hes going to stay with him for along weekend in the not too distant future. Hoping to have the shawl to a point where I can concentrate on the complicated bit of the border without interuption. Am now up to 250 stitches a row which is taking around 20 minutes to complete. Have another 30-40 rows to go to reach that point althopugh I haven't figured out quite what that point is. I'm hoping I'll know when its big enough. I've already passed the first two sizes which are far too small for anything other than a vertically challenged midget.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Its the start of the Christmas festivities at school which means stress levels are ridiculously high. Have been in and out of the loft more times this week than I have in the past month. On top of that I'm getting a fair amount of flack for being non-union and thus the reason school is partially open on strike day. Really don't need it. The cleaner from hell is off sick again. Apparently she can continue taking random days bed rest until January at which point something will be done about it. Not overly impressed at this. Seems that each day is more pants than the previous one. And I've woken up with a head ful of snot which makes things seem a gazillion times worse than they actually are.
OH is having another mid-life crisis. One which sees him trawling fleabay for a left hand drive hairdryer in order to drive from here to some godforsaken corner of earth to abandon the car with a local charity and fly home. Sounds like fun, in another lifetime. For the moment its one thing too many. Project landie is still in bits and would only be delayed by the arrival of another project vehicle.
Meanwhile my anticipated weekend of peace has flown out the window, instead OHs friend, girlfriend, dog and pet rabbits are coming to stay for the better part of a week. Trying to stop the hound from hell eating the fluffy bunnies will be most interesting.
In brighter news I bunged a couple of items on flea-bay that have been cluttering up the PC desk for quite some time. They sold for a tenner. Finding it far easier to cope with listing a couple of bits and pieces regularly than spending a day listing a glut of stuff. That said its free listing all weekend.
Its hellish windy which means the DDs riding lessons have been cnacelled. Looking forward to a morning slobbing round in PJs and a quick foray to yet another church fete just to get out of the house for a bit.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
