Spent the vast majority of yesterday asleep either in bed or in the car or on the sofa. Woke up this morning feeling human for the first time in weeks. I actually have some energy. Which is v. good because I have a birthday party to plan, a load of school uniform to persuade DD1 to iron and much washing up to bung through the dishwasher. OH has done a pretty good job of staying on to p of the basics and keeping the DDs occupied. He even went as afar as to tidy up Land Rover land which means it can be traversed without stubbing toes or tripping up over things in the dark.

Have a very long to do list but its mostly paperworky things. The housework can wait until Monday. Don't plan on overdoing things today although if its as gloriously sunny as yesterday I could be tempted to garden.

Got paid on Friday so have shuffled money through the Halifax for a free fiver before starting to write a gazillion cheques for everything from school lunches to cornet lessons. Got a refund for DD1s non trip. She doesn't seem at all bothered that she didn't go. Have to sort out her sponsor form for Tuesday. I thought the demands for money from primary school were bad but that was nothing compared to high school.

Allowed the DDs to stay up late and watch the original Footloose on Film4. Had forgotton most of the plot. Not entirely sure I want to see the remake which was the plan for DD1s birthday may persuade her to see Dolphin Tale instead.

Spent yesterday lurching between being very active and impersonating a sloth. Managed to get through three loads of laundry, one dishwasher load and three lots of washing up as well as the vast majority of the ironing pile. In between I knitted another berry hat from start to finish, whipped up 50 buns and supervised the concoction of a tray of melted marshmallow gunk. Even managed to persuade the DDs to do all the homework they'd admit to having.

Went nowhere so spent no money although was most tempted to obtain the Prima Christmas magazine because it features a pattern for a v. cute christmas pudding hat, the same one thats in an £18.99 hardback book which I've since found at £4.99 from the Book People.... had a duh moment when I realised that either of those options would wipe out any profit to be made in the making of the hat and so I'll attempt to guess how to do the dribbly icing from a picture and hope its something like. Its basically a berry hat with white icing rather than green leaves and curved bits rather than pointed bits... how hard can it be?...... hmmmmmm

DD1 has four days left of school, DD2 has to endure Friday as well and then we have a whole week off..... have booked it as holiday so have no childcare bills to sort out, am not doing the second job either, figured I needed a complete break.

Off to see if the cinemas have updated film times for next weekend.

Thanks FF but *insert stompy foot icon* I want one with 3D icing trickling over the top ... not entirely sure about the tree though.

In most excellent news I've recieved a generous donation to moo's craft fund from the owner of the most recent hats. Still have two to knit but I'm almost breaking even on knitting purchases.... almost.... and I have a cupboard full of yarn. Must not buy any more yarn... must not buy any more yarn... must not be tempted by anything on the Knitting Goddess website...... ooooohhhhh....

Meanwhile back in grey and grotty windswept Wales I have a huge amount of laundry to get through and a giant cobweb of shoelaces to deconstruct in order to change DD2s bedding. I'm clueless how the child exited her bedroom this morning because the door is barely openeing. Further plans involve the writing of many cheques and a phone call to the dentist who has managed to book OH in for a torture session with the hygienist whilst the DDs have a check up elsewhere.

I am not much into hats like these, but go you if you can make money out of it!

I take it that the pregnant cleaner, who isn't turning up will not be getting paid maternity leave as she hasn't been there long enough? does she know that?

Stupidly thanks to some change in regulations the unreliable cleaner does qualify for maternity leave or at least she would if she earnt a fiver more a week than she does. I fear she'll drag this out for as long as possible and then some rather than be unpaid for the next few months.

I'm with you on the hats. I wouldn't wear any of the ones I've made, neither would the DDs although they've seen a few others they fancy. Quite happy to make things that people want though, its good practice or me and it saves having a cupboard full of stuff that never gets used... I have loads of completed cross stitches that get finished and added to the pile. I've never framed any or done anything else with them with the exception of DD1s christmas stocking.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh. Why are straightforward things so complicated. I want to take a car load of squealing preenagers to see something at the cinema on Saturday. I'm not overly bothered which cinema nor which film or even what time but they all claim not to have anything on. Its half term for !!!!s sake.

Off to wrap the only present that we've obtained so far for DD1s birthday. Clueless what else to get her. Although was most chuffed last night when at 10:30 I found her still awake and reading... the child that hates books was reading through choice and complained about having the light turned off because she'd got to a really good bit. Can't begin to explain how fab this is. Hopefully if shes found something she likes reading then she'll read more which will mean the speed she reads at will improve and her spelling will improve and every day life at school will become that little easier.

Slow cooker is on. Dentist appointment rearranged. Sure there was something else I needed to do today but can't think what it is.

Fantastic news that DD is reading happily, it is such a great pass time, keep her amused for hours on cold damp days and teach her so much. I can understand why you are so happy about this :j:T:j

Spent yesterday degrotting the dining room. Got rid of a couple of giant boxes of camping stuff and landie bits and accumulated carp from the corner, bunged an odd bit of lino and a couple of carpet tiles out in the shed and set about cleaning the newly found bits of floor. Got a bit sidetracked and cleaned out OHs tropical fish tank. Sick of waiting for him to do it. Looks much better already. Need to spend another day in there evicting spiders from the beamed ceiling and cleaing windows and rehoming the stuff thats accumulated in there which shouldn't have.

Spent nothing all day but had to fork out sponsor money to DD1 for a sponsored run. She came home with a cheesy grin on her face having been selected for the hockey team. Sent OHs old workbench on holiday hopefully permanently which frees up some space in the shed and generates a little more cash to fling at the debt. Need to do something major in order to be sub 5K by Christmas.
