Whooooo hoooooo its half term and I have a whopping 9 days holiday from everything! Of course this means that I've already had three phone calls about people needing access to work next week. Most of them were a bit miffed at being told no way jose, one even tried the "but we can only do it when there aren't any children about arguement" mmmm sadly with holiday club and football camp on the grounds where they intend to fell a tree that ain't gonna happen. Another tried the "we'll only be an hour or so love" routine.... fit it in after school one day the week after then dahlin.

    I wish.

I'd far rather have the personal phone number of whichever moron at council HQ is handing out my number in order to divert calls to them.

Spent yesterday morning cleaning. All sodding morning. Blitzed the entire house before sitting down to a cuppa in my PJs at which point the doorbell rang and DD1 screached as her first guest arrived an entire hour early. Bah. DD1 helpfully comes across all Little Miss Sociable and invites the childs dad in for coffee. Poor chap.

One leisurely shower later I was considerably more human. THe remaining guests arrived on time, all apart from one child whose mother phoned five minutes later to say they were running a bit late. Loaded everyone else into the car and waited and waited some more. Arrived at the flicks just as the opening titles started. Endured DolphinTale which was better than I expected but still overly long. Smaller children in the audience were fidgitty, its not really suited to the under 7s.

Post film headed for Frankie and Benny's whose food was superb. The childrens portions were huge. I'd have been happy with one.

Ended the day £90 lighter. Rather glad the DDs don't want birthday parties every year.

Got rid of other peoples children, dispatched mine for a bath and set about learning to crochet in order to make a donut pin cushion for the Secret Santa. Failed miserably. Twice. Seems chocolate brown is not the best colour to use. Will have to come up with an alternative instead.

Glad the day passed off relatively ok. At least you weren't naked when the first child came!

LOL about the workmen trying to get in during your holiday. But grr to your number being the one to call.

This stopped happening to me when I pointed out they were both breaking the Data Protection Act by giving out my number, and that I would be charging overtime whenever they did it.

As you're also public sector, the Data Protection Act thing might work for you, too.

We have a rule to try and watch at least one adult film (oo er, I mean a film with a story line that involves no talking animals or vampires) each year, or we end up only seeing kids' stuff. It feels like such a treat!
