Bah...... pattern has another mistake only it didn't become apparent until I'd finished the first three inches. Have figured out what it is but its actually easier to pull it all back and start again than it is to undo it gradually to the mistake. I most definately prefer edible hobbies.

DD1 phoned. Shes having a fabulous time. Turns out the v. reasonably priced place I've booked them into is hosting a salsa function. Its incredibly hot and so all the windows are open. DD1 decided it was only sensible to gatecrash because trying to sleep through it was pointless. OH is not quite as ecstatic but has seen the funny side. Just as well really.

Found me a pucker pattern for a knitting needle case. Tis less labour intensive than the one I had planned. Will be raiding the charity clothes bag at some point for suitable fabric with which to make it. For the mo. though I'm still fighting with the cable pattern. Seem to be unpicking one in four rows because its sooooo fiddly. Looks great though.

Hi moo, nice one on DD1 getting involved in the salsa function. lol. The woo is here. Thanks SO MUCH. He is so cute. Just let me know payment details please.

Blowing a hoolie over there as well huh. I thought that the Australia Italy game today, was going to be water logged it was hosing it down so much this morning. But then I gather you are about to be hit by the end of a hurricane in the next day or two, so I guess that is where the wind is coming from!

When I claimed the needle case was less labour intensive I was clearly delusional. Five hours after starting it the finished item was less like two knackered pairs of cord trousers and more like the £20 needle cases occupying the shelves of Hobbycraft only with added blood and less pizazz. It ain't at all bad though. Total cost £4.00 but only because I was a smart !!!! and used bias binding rather than hemming it properly which would have meant I was still sitting at the sewing machine cursing out loud as all manner of things went wrong. Either the sewing machine is cursed (highly likely) or I'm too cack handed to use it (a distinct possibililty) but either way no normal user should suffer the number of jammed and broken needles, burnt smelling motors or general puffs of ominous smelling smoke that befell my afternoon.

Needless to say OH did not arrive home to a scene of domestic bliss. Nor did he complain at having to move several things in order to make a cuppa. Rather glad he didn't arrive home hungry as DD2 and I had opted for the culinary masterpiece of microwaved tinned sphaghetti on toast which DD2 was rather pleased to be allowed to make unsupervised hence the liberal splattering of tomato sauce down the cupboard fronts and across the floor.

Discovered the lack of surprise was entirely down to OHs shopping spree. A close encounter with the cast iron frying pan is most definately on the cards.

Treated DD2 to lunch at McDonalds..... my veggie burger was a bit of a surprise. The surprise being it contained considerably more dead chicken than the average veggie burger. Was not at all impressed although did get it exchanged and the cost of lunch refunded. Promptly spent the refund in Hobbycraft on bias binding and ribbon for the needle case, a size gauge and tape measure. Clearly I am destined to single handedly kick start the UK economy.

Spent the evening halfheartedly tidying up. Found enough kitchen to cope with tomorrow. Didn't yawn too much when OH waffled on about his day. Glad he had a good time. Even more grateful that I didn't have to endure it too. Seems DD1 dealt withthe boredom remarkably well by gravitating towards the nearest clothes stall or failing that a passing dog. She seems to have enjoyed herself although was a bit miffed that I won't write a note to explain why she hasn't done Thursdays homework. Will be kicking her out of bed early enough to do that before school.

and so its morning again and for the first time this year its still dark at 6am. Winter is approaching rapidly. Will need to factor coal money into this months budget just in case we need to start using the fires regularly betweeen now and the middle of October. The way the temperature is dropping I doubt we'll manage more than another fortnight without heating although I'm still insisting the bedroom windows stay open at night much to OHs disgust. More a case of needs must because the nocturnal stench generated by one snoring, farting, belching male and two hounds ain't pleasant.

This week will be hideous. I have work functions every evening which means I'm unlikely to get home before 9pm. Worst of all will be the school discos because the kids will be unbearably naggy the folowing day which in turn makes the teaching staff knackered because eveything is so much harder when the kids are over tired and don't want to do anything.

Plans for this week involve figuring out how to reduce the amount of bending done by the illegal immigrant who is already suffering pregnancy related back ache. Hoping she has a scan in a couple of weeks to correct her due date so we can start to advertise for maternity cover. Have an awful feeling this will co-incide with the other cleaner being off for surgery with a two month recovery period. Thats going to be such a fun time.

Need to get this week out of the way first. Planning to wash duvets, blankets and other bulky stuff because this is likley to be my last opportunity to get it line dried before next spring. After that much tidying is required. Anyone would think I'd sat around knitting and stitching and generally not doing a lot of anything else all weekend. Its been loads of fun though.

Good luck with all of the above. I imagine it is going to be 'fun' especially with all the stuff going on at OH's work too.

Thanks for the knitting needle roll pattern, looks fab - as does your version and you've reminded me that I've a pair of burgundy cord trousers that are holey which I could use for it!

hope things aren't too bad your way with the wind / hurricane.

My mum would never write me notes to get out of homework (don't think I ever asked though....) and so I too have many memories of doing homework before school! My bus used to get in quite early so I'd use that time to try and speedily do my homework.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

The week started badly with a text from the illegal immigrant to say she'd be late. She never showed up. Not at all impressed. Just glad I was expecting to be late home anyway otherwise I'd have been really really cheesed off.

Arrived home, having detoured to collect DD2 from Cubs, to find DD1 surfing t'onternet in the name of homework and OH snoozing on the sofa. Ate dinner but was way beyond feeling hungry. Have bones poking out all over though so really need to make an effort to eat more. Was curled up in bed with a book by 9:30pm. Couldn't stay awake.

Have no idea what sort of a day today is going to be. OH is back in work on enforced overtime. means hes done an extra 40 hours already this month. Its not really a surprise considering how little time hes had off.

Started the hunt for insurance. Looks like I can knock £45 off this years house insurance with an extra £30 cashback and about £100 off the car insurance. Not bad for half an hours data entry. Just need to check the small print before going ahead and then phoning last years companies who very helpfully set up automatic renewels despite not being asked to do so.

Wrote to Santander to close the current account I opened earlier in the year for cashback. Have already transferred the majority of the balance to my everyday account to make that a little healthier. Need a quick trawl through the bowels of the filing cabinet to see if there are any other accounts that I can close.

Aquired another tub of damsons so will make another batch of jam today. Need to order some more lids v. shortly as I'm down to the last dozen or so. Also need to label last weekends jars and figure out what I'm sending to this weekends market. Having bought food grade presentation bags I'm tempted to try baking just to see what happens.... mostly to figure out if its feasible to bake weekly in the time I have available and because the extra income would help to get things back where I want them to be. Doesn't help that what would become baking day is also organised dog walking day.

Need to remember to bung the wheelie bin and recycling out today. The wind has dropped enough that they are still likely to be outside the house when the bin men materialise. Hoping theres a bit of space in there for some more of the junk from the front garden. I'm determined to shift that, although at the rate I'm going it will take another year.

:rotfl::rotfl: from what I saw at school this morning school disco or not this appears to be hardest week nationwide LOL Lots of kids in reception clinging to mummy or crying, even DS who's in year 1 was saying now he didn't want to go. I wish you joy ;)
