Hope all is ok at the school Moo! - And of course with everything else too
We are also hoping to get a shed - we don't have one at all at the mo. Its just the cost though - although it won't be connected to the electric and will just be a fairly standard sized shed i think it'll cost about £600  Before that happens though we've got to get where its going ready by laying paving and having the area levelled rather than a slope - again more expensive than i would have thoughtLuckily i already sorted all the carp that my Mr was storing indoors into outside storage :T So this will be a proper workspace for my Mr which i am very happy about and somewhere to stash the deckchairs for me too
Unfortunately the small matter of windows urgently needing replacing, failing guttering etc. etc. all take priority - and before all that is the debt still to clear - but it will all get done in time.
Sounds like the girls are having a wonderful school hols - how is your dog? I don't think you have mentioned him recently ? I remember the photo's you posted of him though and he did look adorable and huge!

The dog has taken to sleeping in, or rather on and over and around, the cats basket, much to the cats disgust.
School is wet and smelly and the damp carpets are causing condensation on the motion sensors which collects sufficiently to become a droplet which then succumbs to the lure of gravity and this motion triggers the burglar alarm which phones a friend and today that friend is me. Oh joy.
Shed building is worth the effort for the gain in space but only if the space you gain is big enough to compensate for the hassle involved. Its so time consuming though.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Think the carpets are going to end up in a skip. They reek of sweaty feet and there are some ominous fluffy patches in the corner of one of the rooms. After 5 days they're still at the squelchy stage. Its not looking good.
Did pottering about before holiday type things. Tested fire alarms, checked fire extinguishers, emergency exit lights, emptied all the bins and generally filled an afternoon without actually doing much. Remebered to finish reinforcing the boys toilet cubicle in the hopes they don't break that again.
Ferreted around in my dross pile and found enough scrap bits to make a really crap bottom whorl spindle and a lace-weight-ish one. Whether they work is anyones guess. Figured I'd have a play and see what they're like. If I like them I'll have another go at making them out of something a bit classier than a bit of MDF, a kebab skewer and some old fashioned 30A fuse wire. I'm expecting them to be unbalanced and clunky but fun too. Hopefully.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Yesterday was a truly glorious day. I finally unearthed the bottom of the laundry pile and the demonic daughters bedroom floors after 7 loads of laundry. Only the bedding from the master boudior to go and then I'm totally up to date. Admitedly I did get a teeny bit carried away and did a spot of handwashing but in my defence m'lud it was raw sheep fleece so I haven't lost the plot entirely. Not that I was intending to wash fleece but when the postie brings a box full its rude not to.
Am amazed just how labour intensive fleece prep is. I was kinda thinking it would arive, I'd pick out the poo and twigs and wot not, give it a quick wash and spin away. Seems it needs a long soak and then several hot washes and many hot rinses before spending several days drying. Still its way more fun than housework even if I do need to do yesterdays washing up befoer I start on the hot washes. V. tempted to load the dishwasher but I don't think theres enough stuff to justify doing that.
In other gobsmacking news I have salary left at the end of the month. Shocked? I know I am. Thats after forking out for two lots of car tax. Its the first time in years I've had more than a couple of quid left over.
Didn't get round to bunging the bike in the shed so thats my one and only plan for today.... after fleece bathing... got to get my priorities right. Fun first. Drudgery later.... about 10am when the semi-finals of the 10m diving take place. I'll be glued to the ironing board. Just have to hope I don't get too engrossed and burn something in the process.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Just been catching up - boo to the flood and I hope those carpets have gone - cant believe you where left to sort that out - surely the LEA should have stepped in? The school is insured after all. Sounds like you are getting sorted re shed and stuff and yay to having money at the end of the month! Our trip to the Olympics means we are stretching the pennies this month and eating out of the freezer - it was worth it though - fantabulous!Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

I survived a visit with the mother-in-law. Came home baked to a crisp after a week of 80 degree plus heat. Had a surprisingly good time. Have walked miles and miles and miles. Was on the beach by 6am every day for a couple of hours stroll. The hound from hell was v. well behaved. Only had one minor incident all week which involved a large pool of green liquid cow splat and a 360 degree roll miles from anywhere. She v. kindly shared meaning the two of us ended up honking. She didn't seem to mind, unlike the OH who refused to let either of us in the car. Can't think why. Managed to read the entire Percy Jackson series as well as swim in the pool every day. Feeling much fitter, but still not fit enough to consider jogging. Really need to give that a whizz soon other wise I'm never going to get into marathon running shape.
Much laundry is in my immediate future folwoed by a lot of de-spidering as the arachnids seem to have taken over the house. Still not sleeping through the night, but that seems to be because I've had enough sleep after 5 hours rather than because I've got a lot on my mind.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
