Well, us forumites are UK consumers, and the majority (ie all but you) seem to find no issue here. So assuming that we are all 'average' consumers, then this sample group is a fairly accurate representation of the majority UK consumer view
You never did tell me how long you've been working in the buying department for a major UK supermarket? Just wondering on what authority you base your disregard for my knowledge?0 -
I'll be claiming the fifth on that one Mama0

You mean you can't/won't accept that MamaMoo has more knowledge & experience that you regarding the buying department of a supermarket.
Has anyone on this thread actually agreed with your views on the cartons? If not, why won't you accept that you might actually be wrong?0 -
NO one has agreed. They haven't mislead anyone what so ever they have clearly reduced the carton size, it says it on the shelf edge label, it says it on the product what more does the OP want. I think the OP is annoyed because the MD of the company did write to him personally and ask his permission to reduce the packaging size, clearly the OP is so far up his **** he thinks he should have the final say.
I suspect the OP doesn't even purchase this product on a weekly basis, only when its on offer or his mum gives it to him for a treat. Same with the "Great EGG Scandal" he could only dip 4 soldiers instead of his usual 5 so is throwing a paddy claiming we are all being exploited, brain washed or what ever other fiction he has dreamed up in his head.
LMAOEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

Bah! In the good ol' days before Americanization we used to call it the "right to silence" instead of the "fifth"... then they sneakily reduced the number of letters by 65%! It's an outrage!
To be honest, it sounds like your post is engaging in legal and judicial trickery by deceiving us into thinking that American law applies in the UK. This is clearly illegal as no attempt was made to highlight this -- foolish readers might be tricked into believing that American law is the same as ours.
I'm going to have to speak to the American government. Clearly they're big and powerful enough to have a say about who quotes their law, so this is a big conspiracy between the American government and British lawyers hoping to cash in on the confusion.
Won't somebody think of the [STRIKE]children[/STRIKE] consumers?!0 -

In the really old days, people used to admit when they were wrong. Not the OP, though, as he's always right.0 -

Long before most of you ever heard of a 750ml Innocent Smoothie carton Marcellus said "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark" and I saw it for myself on the shelves. Now it's here and I simply do not believe it has anything to do with being green - indeed until recently you couldn't get the Kiwis and Lime one over there.
K3 actually knows best of course - what's best for all of us has been predetermined in the boardroom. We wouldn't want to cause an entire sub-recession product decline just because simple-minded customers stopped buying the stuff merely because the price went up. No, there has to be a better reason than that for them to stop buying it so let's make it easier for the customers to fool themselves in these times of hardship, eh? That way everyone is happy, including the fools who fall for it.
For the record, after I plonked the far from innocent 750ml carton back on the shelf, I simply walked round the corner and picked up 2 x 2l Sainsburys own brand smoothies for £4. And I am sure that promotion was part of some grand design set by someone like K3 just for irritable ex innocents bouncing around the shop like me :rotfl:0 -

.
And round and round in circles we go :rotfl:
My 'pre-determined in the boardroom' is driven by many £££/€€€/$$$ in research/interviewing shoppers to understand whether unit cost is more important than absolute size/weight in an inflationary market.
If you want to challenge the views of many thousands then feel free but you're not getting an awful lot of support here.0
