I didnt receive your CV today i assume!

2.5 years for the role I have advertised, which is crying out for people who can fill it, and plenty of jobs in other global and national brands in the region, and someone has not worked for 2.5years, and there is more going on there than the cv says. If they had said family, or travel or study or something, then it would actually have read better!

You have too much experience, but you won't network in the modern way? Try it and see? You're on here, you have an internet presence of some form. Are you on facebook? We all have electronic footprints nowadays.

and it is a myth on this "someone in work already" thing. I had actually taken a risk and handed in my notice without a job to go to (2hrs+ each way commute and something had to give, getting a job, which would typically take three interviews, when working so far away was also difficult). Sometimes that can make it easier as an employer doesnt have to wait 1-3 months for you to start. Of course that is a huge gamble and anyone taking it needs to have sufficient funds to support themselves for a duration.

Have you been to see any of those free CV services run by the gov? Some are useless, but some can actually be quite constructive. A complete CV revamp definitely got me taken a bit more seriously.

Agreed, a strong CV can almost guarantee an interview for the right job.

yeah if I had been in prison it would be easier to get a job

Page Personnel told me that they can't help me as I am not working but they have had me on the database for 1 year!

Just think I would be better off if something happened to me

and do page personnel actually hold the key to the decision makers for the kind of roles you are looking for in your region?

I expect not. So who is, and speak to them.

Take what these idiots say with a pinch of salt. I've heard all sorts of rubbish from recruitment agencies. The last agency I spoke to (after responding to a job ad) said they would not put me forward for the job unless I go to their office and do a basic typing test. The job was for a senior IT support analyst! incredible

so, have they got any jobs in your area of specialism in your region?

Clearly not, as unless there are lots of similarly qualified individuals, then you would know by now.

Which companies do you want to work for? Who do they use and trust? If you dont know, ring them up and find out.

Good tip, you can get a fair bit of info from a call to HR.
