Dealing with recruitment agencies – advice

If its one agent per role, why do they (almost every agent i've spoken to) insist on knowing where you are interviewing?
With me, when I asked them, they claim that the potential employer will be interested to know or for wage negotiations etc, but I don’t buy it
Some agents dont even bother asking me anything about myself/experience/CV and just go straight to where im been interviewing and applying direct.
no they meant one one agency could get you an interview at one company. If you were registered at two agencies and they both ahd the same jobs they both couldnt put you forward but having said that both agencies wouldn't know you were being out forward unless they were talking to eachother which they do not do and only can put you forward if you say so. Its whoever calls you first for the job and puts you forward0 -

they need to know so they don't put you forward as you have already been put forward. It is common sense.
It is also important they know which roles you have appled for as at the end of the day employers expectations need to be met as well. Nothing wrong with honest questions. MY current employer (been here 2 weeks, recruited via agency) asked me similar questions, as did the agent. I answered them honestly. I cant see how answering straightforward questions can damage your applicaiton, quite the reverse, for someone with a decent background.0 -

thats IF you have the name of the company an agency had previous put you forward for or interviews you have been too.
You do not need to tell them all the agencies you are with as they have no reason to know other than stealing business off the others0 -
we clearly have different experiences then. I got my job through an agency on second day of not working. And I was completely honest about what other jobs I had in the pipeline, and who with. It does not hurt to tell the truth.0

well I never tell agencies who else I am with as I know how they work and how will they compromise you since they can't put your cv forward for anything unless you say so?
confused.com, these two statements are contradictory.thats IF you have the name of the company an agency had previous put you forward for or interviews you have been too.0 -

Ok so an agency calls you and says we have this job blah blah blah and we are going to put your forward so you say ok then
and you then go to register with another agency and you can't tell them you have been put forward for that job as you have no idea who the employer is as the agencies do not tell you who they are till you are shortlisted to stop you applying to them direct.
and you are very lucky to have got a job in 2 days0 -

I dont have a problem at all with honest questions, I just dont trust them. Did they ask you for the name of the person that interviewed you too? Because to me that is totally irrelevant unless they are planning on approaching these companies/people for business0 -

No...the agency calls and says we have this job blah blah blah and you say, "Great, tell me, who is the company that the position is with?". If I didnt know that, I would never put my CV forward with ANYONE. I would not compromise my own integrity there!
And thank you. It wasn't luck though that got me the job;)!0
