/RANT MODE ON
You know that old saying 'if you want something doing, do it yourself'? Well experience over the years has taught me to abide by that but right now I have very little control over what is happening and it's all hitting the wall.
If people would do as they said they would, life would be so much easier.
I wont go through the whole boring saga (it would read like I was making half of it up tbh even although every word would be factual) but suffice to say OH's boss's handling of our relocation has been little short of abysmal. I realise the man is extremely busy and has more than just us to concern himself with but we make plans on the back of what he says and then what he says, never happens.
I'm sat here surrounded by packing boxes, units lining the hall ready to go today and crap everywhere and it now appears the van he was supposed to have arranged for delivery today (and had confirmed by phone) is now not available after all and wont be coming.
All the money we had to shell out for various things and were getting reimbursed for, we're still waiting for. The claim form was submitted in plenty of time for last month's cut off date but because he didn't deal with it at the time, we didn't get it paid. We're now out by almost £3,000 and are struggling big style now.
OH's employer wanted this whole relocation done in 7 weeks which was ridiculous given our personal situation (which was known about) We jumped through hoops and eventually had to take on a rental we hate and has loads wrong with it, just to get down to the area in time, in order to fit in with what was requested, but they seem to be laid back about their end of things. OH has spoken (phone and email) to his boss and explained our financial situation and boss is sympathetic and says he will deal with things but he then has to go to his boss and inevitably their meetings end up sorting out work stuff and our relocation stuff isn't actioned.
I'm about ready to throw the towel in, stay where I am and head for single parenthood!
Aaaarrrggghhh!

Our situation isn't exactly the same, but I completely understand your frustration at waiting on the word of your OH's boss (or in our case the HR guy) only to be let down time and again.
I don't know what to suggest other than offering your some ((HUGS)).

Been involved in two moves in the last couple of years. It drives everybody concerned to crisis point. My sympathies.0

Thank you. Do you have vodka? You could offer me that.

AJ - you're not having a rant are you?

Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

I can offer you my home made elderberry syrup - it tastes so foul it would take your mind off anything.
Maybe force feeding it to the boss or bosses till they learn to keep their word would work?;)"This site is addictive!"

We tried that at one point. Phone calls and emails were referred back to immediate boss to deal with, kinda defeating the purpose. The company doesn't have a good reputation for looking after it's workers and we're now beginning to see why.AJ - you're not having a rant are you?

I know I said I wasn't going to do this anymore but I'm stressed and need to talk to let off some steam. :rotfl: Anyone who doesn't like it can sod right off.

And I think we also have some red wine, and whisky somewhere. Let's have some of that instead!
Would it be really bad if I didn't feel the slightest bit of guilt for even considering drinking at 9.30 in the morning.

OH has just arrived. Poor beggar finished a late shift at 3am, had a hour's sleep and drove nearly 200 miles to start loading the non existant van. He's been living in the empty rental place by himself for the last couple of weeks, sleeping on a blow up mattress and living off beans on toast. He reckons we're moving the stuff today even if he has to put it on a hand cart and push it back down the A9. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!

In most circumstances, yes. In this, one off, nahh.
I have Cadbury's chocolate too. But no S&V crisps I'm afraid. I devoured them last night in my anger/upset/frustration. Good job the English shop is open tomorrow! Might have to send the OH down there though. I'm full of cold. Bleugh. (again, alcohol may help here - alright, it won't help, but I'll care less!).
Your OH's company seems to behave the same way as my OH's company does. Beginning to wonder if they are one and the same!February wins: Theatre tickets0
