PPI Success with Egg - now MBNA!!

Good evening all - after just one letter out (in early June 2011), i've today received a letter from Egg saying that my PPI complaint to them had been upheld and i've received £4.4k back (which has/is going to be deducted from what I owe them already).

Now searching around the house to see who else added PPI insurance and have located a statement from one of my wifes old cards MBNA (which was repaid back in 2006 probably), but was i think over a number of years looking at a statement paying Payment protection of about £25-£30 a month....

Anyone else had any luck with MBNA with claiming back PPI on a card that is no longer active ? and also if there were bank charges added, for late payments etc, have you been able to claim these at the same time ??

Any advice / comments welcome as usual please.

Many thanks.

Well done on your success, Congratulations!

In regards of MBNA, I understand there have been much success.

What will happen here, if your successful you will get to receive the refund directly to you, plus interest.
In regards of the charges, that I assume would be a separate matter and you can make a reclaim on them too, however check the appropriate thread for this below.
    Good luck.

  • Hi all, just had a response back from Egg saying that i applied online back in 2001 & it clearly stated on the online application if you wished to apply for the PPI. They say that from there records i ticked the box? so they are not accepting my complaint.

Is that the end of the line now? As you can imagine i cant actually remember what was on an online app 10 yrs ago? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I don't think it is either. If the PPI was front loaded, from what I understand, that's been deemed as a huge no no (hence why they stopped selling them) because they were added to the loan and accrued throughout the term of the loan. This in itself is a reason for them miss selling. Someone else who is more knowledgeable will be able to give you more detail I should think

Just had letter from FOS that Egg have done a Uturn & are now gonna make me an offer to settle my claim:j
of course its just a gesture of good will & they accept no liability;),no worries i will wait to hear from Egg & see what they offer.:T
  • Well after completing the excellent form on MSE - and one letter back acknowleding it... My wife got a letter back yesterday from MBNA saying that they upheld her complaint and are now paying her back nearly £1200!! on a card she used to have years ago....

This is so EASY!! - who needs these PPI reclaiming companies - you can seriously do it yourself with minimal fuss!!!

    Another success....

Now going for three in a row with getting PPI reclaim from Capital One - where I defaulted on their card loan years ago - but have now just completed paying it back..... so here goes!!!

Anyone else had any success with Capital One at all ???

    Cheers
