PPI Success with Egg - now MBNA!!

Good evening all - after just one letter out (in early June 2011), i've today received a letter from Egg saying that my PPI complaint to them had been upheld and i've received £4.4k back (which has/is going to be deducted from what I owe them already).

Now searching around the house to see who else added PPI insurance and have located a statement from one of my wifes old cards MBNA (which was repaid back in 2006 probably), but was i think over a number of years looking at a statement paying Payment protection of about £25-£30 a month....

Anyone else had any luck with MBNA with claiming back PPI on a card that is no longer active ? and also if there were bank charges added, for late payments etc, have you been able to claim these at the same time ??

Any advice / comments welcome as usual please.

    Many thanks.

Quick question regarding your egg claim. Have you still got your credit card agreement that you signed and sent back? If so is there a box for you to tick or untick for paymant protection insurance on it. I am thinking about claiming and I have just found my agreement, on it there is no box to tick or untick abour payment protection, but I have been paying it for years. I am just wondering if it could of been on the one that I sent back.

    Thanks

  • No i didn't have a copy of my agreement... If you've found yours and it's not ticked and you've been paying it - i would have thought you would have a case..

Mine was slightly different - I was paying PPI to Egg each month on a defaulted loan. They gave me back 4.5k - which has simply been taken off the balance of what I owe the debt management company - but from being 9k down to 4.5k - i'm happy!!!

Thats the thing. I have the agreement, but no where on the agreement does it mention about payment protection insurance. It just says I needed to sign a copy and send it back to them. I have been paying it for 9 years then I cancelled it as I went onto a dmp. I though that it would of said on my agreement about the ppi.

  • well if on the agreement there is no mention of PPI but you have been paying PPI monthly since having it - then i'd say they've got no leg to stand on and you could be up for a nice christmas bonus!!! - go for it... Whatever you do - don't use these PPI claim companies to act on your behalf - there is no need for them!! - I've successfully claimed from both Egg and MBNA and it took all together a letter / or form and postage!!! - all sorted each one within 6 weeks or so!!!!
  • As I have got the agreement what is the next step. Is there a templete letter that I can use about somewhere or is it this one http://images.moneysavingexpert.com/attachment/PPI-consumer-questionnaire.pdf that I have to fill in and send off to egg.

  • yes send off the questionnaire and a COPY of the agreement.... then go for it!!
  • Below is what is on my credit agreement.. does this mean I have been charged for an insurance? Are they itemised separately as I just have one charged on my statements?

    2. REPAYMENTS

Each month you must pay by Direct Debit at least the minimum payment stated in your statement by the Payment Date. The minimum payment will be:

the full Revolving Balance if it is less than £5, but otherwise the greater of 2% of the Revolving Balance and £5, or (if it is more) the total of (i) interest and (ii) the Card Repayment Protection premium, both as shown in your statement

    Any help will be appreciated

Years ago I had an Egg Credit Card (which I hung myself with) it was subsequently turned into an Egg loan which is nearly finished.

We had a fire a couple of years ago, so I have no documentation.

My currently Egg Loan does not show PPI payments, but I feel sure that I had it at the beginning before I did a top up.

I telephoned Egg a few months ago and asked if they could check if I ever had PPI, they very quickly said "No". How can I check this? Could/would they lie to me?

By the way, I just received a stonking £6k payout from First Direct Bank on a personal loan I had in 2001:)
  • Ashleigh and Purple Nails,

Definately complete the FOS questionnaire form available on MSE and send it back to the banks concerned... as long as you've got your account number... It means they need to look at your account properly!!!

Don't do it by phone, as they'll fob you off and you need to have a written/document trail...

I've just completed forms and sent it off to Lloyds TSB and Capital One - so now awaiting the usual holding letter and then I hope to get a nice payout from both of them in the next couple of months...

    Good luck!!
  • In the voice of the guy from Big Brother : "Today Saturday 8th October in the Sussex King House....."

Received a letter from Capital One saying they are looking into my complaint - and they'll reply back within 8 weeks (the norm!!)

Anyone know how long Capital One are generally taking to give their final answers at the moment... is it less than 8 weeks ??
