PPI Success with Egg - now MBNA!!

Sorry, I missed some of your answers and advice. I rang Egg again, this time I was asking them how much they charge for SAR information so that I could send the letter. Guess what? This time they put me through to someone else who confirmed that I did indeed have PPI on a £10,000 loan taken out in January 2005, but not on my original Egg Credit Card. I have only a few payments left on this loan.
They now tell me the complaint is logged and I will receive a response within the next 5 days and a decision within the next 6 weeks.
Sussexking: Because I am impatient, I am interested to know when your original loan started and roughly how much it was for for you to get a £4.5k refund.
I am really excited now

Purplenails : I took about the loan (which was about 10k too) in 2001/2002 i think... I defaulted on it in 2004/2005, but they loaded the PPI ontop of the loan - and so because of reading comments on MSE - I wrote to them and asked them to refund the PPI which they had loaded onto the defaulted loan - because there was no way I was going to use the PPI.... They refunded me £4.5k - but I still owed them £9k - so they've taken it off what I owe.... but still had £4.5k wiped off my debt...
Hope that helps!0 -
Thanks for that SussexKing: I suppose there is no way of me second guessing how much they may refund me. Just have to change a habit of a lifetime and wait patiently.0

well, they have sent me a letter back after a week to say that my complaint has not been upheld and thats the last they want to hear of the matter. I can of course go to the FSA if I want.

Well i've just received letters this week from both Capital One and Lloyds TSB who are now looking into my complaint and with the case of Lloyds - i might have to wait for 12 weeks for a response!!
Also just found that i took my Capital One credit card with PPI in 1998!! -so could be in for a little windfall, if they uphold my complaint on that one...
Keep you posted..... Still awaiting the MBNA money which hopefully we'll get in the next couple of weeks...0 -

I don't understand your case. If you say you have the original agreement and the PPI box was unticked but you have still been paying it, how can they not uphold your complaint??? Maybe its worth a letter to the FSA or sending an SAR to Egg?
Reading about different cases with different banks on this site, it seems the whole system is a little random.0 -

I signed up online, then they sent me an agreement. On the agreement that I have it doesnt have a tick box or anything about ppi, it just has the t &c about ppi. I know I have been paying it. When I made the complaint I just sent them a letter not the fsa questionnaire.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

Well done Sussexking.
The first phone call I made to Egg they said I didn't have PPI on my loan, the second phone call they said I did have it.
I have now received a letter from Egg saying that PPI was not applied to my loan!!
I have no paperwork (due to a fire), should I bother sending a SAR? Would/could they lie to me?0
