bought this today, but much prefer the old style ones - screwing the bottle in is a right faff (no way kids can do it) - much easier when you just put the bottle in, and pulled a handle

My kids can do it, they are 7 and 8 and we have had it for a few years. However, the machine not a toy and contains pressureised gas. I do not really let them gas it themselves and only do if I supervise them.

The press in ones used to explode, this is why they changed the style. I'd rather have the screw in one than risk it going off in my face. They used to be made of glass too.

FYI guys.... for those of you who blog you can get one of these for free with about 6 flavours !!

Im a blogger and often write to companies who send me free stuff in exchnage for reviews. Just write to the PR contact for sodastream, link them your blog and stats and they will send you a unit for free.

I ain't selling my soul for no lousy Sodastream, no siree. Now a Lamborghini Gallardo, that would be different!

Selling your soul? I'm confused. Whats wrong with free products in Exchange for reviews, they don't have to be positive lol, and I find it quite fun taking pics and writing them makes me feel like a little journalist haha

I got my machine yesterday....fizzd up a botle of saindburys pinot grigio i got on the meal deal glitch the other week and it was fantastic!!!!

Just used short bursts and let the bubbles go down in between....might try some rose tonight!

only dissapointment is that it only comes with one bottle and extra ones are quite expensive.

In Lakeland, 2 spare bottles are £4.99 - less than half the price of Argos etc.

very tempted to buy one now having seen you can fizz up a bottle of wine. Hmm. Having just received my burger press this morning, I think hubby would have a fit if I buy something else for the kitchen. He thinks Im one step away from becoming an obsessive shopping channel shopper.

Yes full fat coke is fab for cleaning things. If you ever did the experiment at school, put a tooth in a bowl of coke and it will be gone within a few days.

Anyone experienced care to offer a few "how-to" suggestions? Just tried mine and no carbonation in the water at all despite holding it down more than the suggested number of times. At this rate there'll be no gas left...
Is there a knack to Soda streaming? we got our machine all loaded up,the gas is fizzing into the bottle(to the extent that it overflows!),but the end product is still flat..any tips please.

PS,sold out in all our local Argos,i got ours from Costco...its the graphite/grey one and comes complete with 2 bottles and 12 taster flavours...£35...
