Crime Scene House Buying

There was a house in my parents road with a similar case but he was in prison.
The house was empty for almost 2 years when it went up for sale a lot cheaper then it would of been had it been a `normal` house.
That house has had 5 owners. None stay once they hear what happened, shortest stay was 4 months:rotfl: BUT the house itself was fine and as others have said most homes have suffered a death or disaster that gives it history - albeit not nice history.
It did however go up in price gradually each time it went back up for sale and is now on the market again at the correct price.DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

If you love the house buy it. Mines a girl and she looks after us. She`s 112 years old and she`s warm and caring. If you love it, it will love you back. And I dont care if people think I`m crazy. She`s defo a girl.
It seems the OP's house didn't love its former occupants much although we don't know what sex it is - that might account for the difference!0 -
I'd love to see a rightmove link to see if it fits the image in my head.... lots of ivy, long creepy drive, attic rooms with no keys to unlock them :rotfl:
I have to say, it would put me off, so just bare in mind that there will be plenty of others who feel the same as me when you come to sell. As someone else said though.... memories fade.

I go to that town to visit a particular shop a couple of times a year and keep meaning to drive past that house but I always forget!
Gorgeous house
I was taken in completely by the book (which incidentally is much much scarier than the movie), terrified me for weeks as a kid lol. If you dig around the story there were lots of people who had lots to gain from a 'haunting' and sadly its hard to tell any possible genuine paranormal events for the money grabbers.0 -
I forgot to say - our local Anglian church will carry out blessings and I think exorcisms if you ask them. Even if you don't need it, it may help alleviate other people's worry for you.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

I think all places actually have an atmosphere about them, and I've walked into some houses and felt a lovely atmosphere, and in others I've felt a horrible atmosphere. I don't believe in supernatural stuff but houses definitily have their own unique atmosphere, irrespective of whether they're beautiful or horrible places....0

Without a doubt correct. Makes great movies for those 'that believe'...
Hollywood has worked out it is a great money machine.

Derrick Bird's house (taxi driver/Lake District shootings) got £35,000 at auction. That was half the open market value at the time. There's a couple in his road for sale right now at £65-75k
His house however has never stayed with the new owners very long, and attempts to let it have failed. Everytime I drive past there is a new for sale, to let, or auction sign up.
Whilst it makes economic sense I think you have to consider the crime, the area and your intended use.
1) The bigger/wider reported the crime, the more of a problem it may be to let/sell. Also the longer people will remember the crime and you may get weirdos (especially with mass-murderers) that will visit the house to see where the crime happened.
2) If you live in a close nit area you are going to have more of a problem than in bigger areas. Memories in some areas last longer than others.
3) If you intend to quickly sell or let you may encounter problems because while you don't have a problem with having a murder house, others may have.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -

It's harmless enough, though. There must be weirder things to spend your time and money on.
Harmless, sure. But it's a great sign of the move from the Age of Reason to the Age of Superstition and Random Adoption of Stuff from Various Cultures....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
