Just another thought, if you got the house and then in a few years wanted to move on would you have to disclose the deaths to any potential buyers?Kate short for Bob.

Actually there was a house in my town that was subject to to some sort of controversy. I think there was a violent incident but there was allegedly a gypsy curse on it. I would have snapped it up if I was in the market for a house at that time. It was practically given away.Kate short for Bob.

I would buy it, but I wouldn't make any big plans about being able to sell it for its true market value unless you have lived in it for a fairly long time, so I would try to plan finances accordingly for eg upgrading to a bigger house, rather than find at the time that it's harder to move on. I think it would put some people off. I would also make more of an effort to stamp my mark on the outside of the place to make it look pretty and welcoming.
Friends of ours live in a converted shop and don't have ghosts of customers haunting them, lol.
I don't think I would watch scary films in the house though.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

Whilst the DeFeo murders were tragically real, what followed and the Story of the Lutz family was almost certainly exaggerated claptrap solely done to make some cash.0 -
I think I know the house you mean - it has been reduced from 270K down to 165K as a 'normal' sale before being listed for 145K at auction. I guess there were no takers at 165K. It's actually exactly the kind of house we are looking for - good sized semi near good schools in a nice part of the world. However, I've been thinking as you have and quickly decided the house's history wasn't worth the massive saving. I have a small daughter and would worry how she might react if/when she found out its past. It could be fine and she'd have the most excellent ghost-story filled sleepovers ever but there's also a good chance she'd just find it really disturbing! I think most people in the area will know of the house's history and I suspect that will impact upon resale for quite a while. My guess is that someone will buy it to rent it out....1) From a practical point of view, is this horrific incident enough to cause the price to be slashed so dramatically? Or do you think there could be other problems with the house?
2) From a person point of view, would you be happy living in a house with such a history. Obviously this one is purely opinion, and perhaps is insensitive of me to ask, but I am really curious!0 -

It wouldn't bother me at all.
I have a house with black death corpses buried under or around it somewhere and they're as quiet as the grave.
Also, it seems that every house we live in has just been the setting of an extremely acrimonious divorce and the vibes have yet to rub off on us.
Not to imply that you're likely to be murdering your partner!0 -

Not "new age", more, "lost any common sense of any kind"....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
My parents' house was built in the 1320s. It's probably had 10s if not 100s of births and deaths in it.

It's harmless enough, though. There must be weirder things to spend your time and money on.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
