shrimpy_80 wrote: »To be honest CMD, I hate driving so am probably the wrong person to ask! I would say the main thing is to ask around lots before choosing an instructor and go on recommendation. If you are unhappy then switch, but best if you can get a good one first time around as switching obviously is disruptive. My first instructor was independent and, although a lovely guy, just didn't push me at all and I didn't really get anywhere (except poorer). My second was through the AA and was great, really patient but also very focused on getting me to test standard asap. Sadly I changed jobs and couldn't fit lessons in with him anymore as he was part time. My most recent was AA again but I find him so super critical, he just reduces me to a bag of nerves. If I hadn't chopped and changed so much in the past, I would have asked to change him immediately. Nothing against him personally but he made me feel so stupid
Eventually my OH talked sense into me and made me see that I was never going to pass like that.
Sorry, mega long response there! Also getting lots of practice between lessons will be a massive help if possible (so I'm told!)
Some great advice there Shrimpy! I will be able to get practice in between lessons with my Mam and Dad. They are both very patient and will push me so am hoping to get up and running maybe after Xmas. Should be able to get good recommendations from people at home.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

If you were down Limerick way I'd give you my guys number as he was fantastic.
Remember driving back home is a whole different kettle of fish to driving over here CMD. I've had to completely change the way I drive here compared to Ireland.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Oops, sorry! It's the guy at work, his Office is upstairs so that's what I call him. Next time he says anything I'm going to ask him to sit down and tell me what his problem is with me at the moment. The only problem with talking straight out to him is if a woman shows any emotion other than happy it's a 'hormone' thing. Which makes me want to punch him, but he'll blame that on my hormones and I'll end up no better.
Your goals sound good! Mine are fitness ones, like this month I wanted to lose 9lb, work on toning my arms. Then little promises like 8 hours sleep, 2400 calorie burns ect. Next month I'm thinking to up my weights to 50lb, lose 7lb and I'm doing the ribbon challenge to chart my body changes. (Cut a bit of ribbon a couple inches smalled than your current waist line then take progress pictures every week with the ribbon tape to your waist show the ribbon ends hopefully getting closer and closer together until it meets.)
Glad things are going well with Evie, CMD! Glad she's feeding well too.
Can't believe how soon Disney has come around so quickly Birdie! I haven't seen the picture but I'm sure you'll look 1000x better just for being awesome. And I got the top a couple sizes smaller knowing I was wanting to lose weight so hopefully it will!0 -
In N. Ireland people are very polite, my OH always marvels at people letting him out and stuff. We only use a car club in London but he has still picked up the savage London driving styleee. I don't drive either. You would definitely need to in N. Ireland. Public transport sucks.
Tete - where are you?Are you okay after your big run? Hope you're not in a little jelly heap somewhere
Would love to hear all about it.

CMD so nice to hear from you. Glad Evie is doing well (I loved BF my DD) and Max isn't feeling pushed out (my main concern for DD)
Birdie I don't know how you must be feeling but I am excited about your honeymoon and I'm not even going!!! (I have talked DH round to eurodisney next year though so that'll have to do). I bet your DH will be just as excited as you by the time you get there.

Oooh maybe I should move to N. Ireland in that case! I hate how rude and impatient people are over here, like that advert says, you would never bully people off the pavement so why do it on the road? They're even worse if you have L plates on, they're huffing and puffing and rolling their eyes before you've even had to chance to get in their way! (I mean, I usually do, but that's beside the point!)
Cinny your goals sound great, although I'm not sure if the ribbon challenge is a little scary? I was debating a weight loss goal but am thinking an exercise one would be better, like to do x amount of minutes by the end of the month. I have no idea what would be realistic though! I guess it depends what I include though, if I include walking for example it would have to be higher than if I just counted 'proper' exercise. Any advice would be very welcome as you seem very clued up! (If you could advise me on making friends with Gillian again that would be great too, she is currently glaring at me from the shelf and I have to keep averting my gaze... *ahem*)
Haven't looked at the Disney wedding as I fear I may pop with envy!

I'm never going to Disney again, D doesnt like people in costumes, Donald tried to get a kiss once and she punched himshrimpy_80 wrote: »Oooh maybe I should move to N. Ireland in that case! I'll admit to being less than patient with drivers being bad / super slow. Mostly truck and van drivers, but that L plate buys a LOT of time with me. End of the day if someones learning to do something then let them learn and dont make it harder than it has to be...but thats me.This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -
Eep! Yesterdays talk was oddly depressing. In all honesty, I would give up everything to stay at home with my kids. When I have kids that is! But then we don't have debts or anything like that to worry about. Totally different kettle of fish if we did.
I won't be joining in though, I have a list of October goals already but I don't think MSE is the place for them! Hope everyone has a good day though, I upset OH this morning by jumping on the weights before he could get to them. He got all huffy and said 'If your arms get too big you'll look all butch and I'll leave you.' Seriously now, I've had him on my back for 7 years, he'll have to try harder than just saying he'll leave to upset me!
I'd give up everything too .... but for us to survive on NIMs wage that would mean the house and we couldn't rent a 2 bed here for less than £450 a month, so we'd need to give up heating too and possibly food, and that's a sacrifice too far! I really really hope he gets a new job before we get pg as it would give us a lot more options.
Your OH isn't a little insecure you're going to leave him once you're super skinny and toned is he Cinny? Its probably something that would cross most peoples minds that they wouldn't be good enough next to their super fit partner anymore.
My goals are by no means all MSE either - will be posting my fitness goals too, although mostly those are on myfitnesspal. Feeling a bit smarmy today as I got up and did JMs Shred before work, woke me up well and got it out the way. Missed yesterday so only 4 days into it rather than 5. Decided that stabby pain in my side wasn't to be ignored so gave it a rest, its gone rather than making it worse, and I'm right back to it.clearmydebts wrote: »Morning all! Sorry I haven't been on much. Evie has been taking up all of time as I am breastfeeding this time around and hard to type one handed! She latched on straight away and it is so natural. I am so glad I stopped with Max when I did though as I can see how 'forced' it was with him and his little cheeks must have been so sore from the forceps delivery.
Dinah - I thought you said that you wanted to be a stay at home mum a while ago. Is that not feasible for when your business takes off?
Glad its going so well for you CMD.
If it takes off then it may well be, but I'm not factoring it in at the moment as the launch is going so slowly. Meeting about it tomorrow though. I hope, might be Friday as tomorrow is a crazy full day but I don't know if the guy is still around then.Keentobedebtfree wrote: »Wow, Dinah - love your diaries. It's going to take some time to get through them, but I'll read a little bit every day. Very inspiriational!!
I've just posted my first diary and am hoping to add something every day. Need to keep motivated.
All the best
Thank you! I'll look for your diary this evening as I know I'd have dropped out a long time ago if it wasn't for my brilliant threadies, so I always try to share the love where I can
Spoke to Vodafone retentions last night (they're sodding useless, they make BT look positively competent and that's saying something), and basically yes, my contract will rise from £21 a month to £35 a month in about 6 weeks time. They wouldn't negotiate it at all! So I know its early but it was too good an offer to miss, I decided to get the T-mobile Sony Ericcson Experia Arc (Andriod suits me more than MacOS) while it was free rather than £300 and a half price (£15.32 a month) contract for 300 mins, unlimited txt and net. So I clicked through Quidco and it turns out Tmobile have pulled the offer 2 days early! So angry. Eventually with the help of the mobiles board on here I *think* I found a sneeky way to do it, and it says its dispatched, so here's hoping it bills me correctly too otherwise its going back. So for the next 6 weeks I'll be stuck with 2 phones, but I can trade in the old one and the new contract is a bit of a saving in the longer term.
I know I did badly on the list last night, lets just say its a week long work in progress, something will be crossed off tonight (mostly because I NEED to do the first proof).Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Is there anything we can do to help Dinah?? I have a bit of spare time on my hands since finishing work (got loads of things I *could* be doing though) but I'm happy to help out if needed
