Well I got a deadline end of next week before honeymoon (YAY) so I will be slogging it out all weekend accompanied by clearing out the kitchen. Feel so pants about writing that I need to have achieved something tangible at home! OH is away so am going to have the whole place to myself. Getting M and S dine in tonight and watching chick flicks. Heaven!!:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0

Fighting the urge to have a cookie. Clearly I am doing badly on both diet and finances fronts. At least my house is tidy and (mostly) finished and dinner is mostly already prepared so a quick win on that and not wasting too much time at the stove.
Where is Cinny? She's been quiet recently since decimating the challenge.
Would anyone like a new challenge? I'm open to suggestions, but I feel like for a brief moment there we were all making big leaps and bounds towards moving in the right direction. Even if we all set ourselves a personal goal for October, money or otherwise (make 5 presents or 50 cards, or write a business plan for example) which are different, it might help give those of us who are distracted by shiny things a focus.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Oh I like the idea of making x number of presents and cards by the end of October. Clearly artisitc challenges are much better for me than financial ones! :rotfl:
Your evening sounds lovely Lara, enjoy it! I just really wanted a quiet night last night, felt a bit pants and just wanted to turn off the TV and enjoy some silence... but upstairs had a cackle of hyenas round by the sounds of it so I had to stick crappy TV on just to drown out the noise! Hope it's peaceful tonight!
Hope the weather's good for the fun day Wendz and you win big on the tombola if there is one!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Lol yes it was you I had in mind Birdie when suggesting alternatives to financial goals.
That said I'd quite like to get a bit of Christmas sorted too. If people want to set ourselves 'October Goals' then mine is bound to be multi-faceted (off the top of my head I'm thinking clear OD2, OD3, Friend, list 40 things on eBay, make 5 Christmas decorations, cross 1 thing off day zero list).
Speaking of, how is everyone doing on their day zero goals? I really wish it allowed you to friend people on there or follow them.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Mine will hopefully be a lot better once we get back as there are a few holiday specific things on there!
Currently sitting at 9%, had to nix the whole 'Prepare a Rugby Tea' thing (which has been a big thing for me to actually be brave enough to do for years) as a local restaurant has taken over the catering so it's no longer hanging over my head! Changed it to receive a Fortnum and Mason hamper!
Think my October goals will be: Make 30 Christmas cards, make 3 Christmas presents, throw out 2 bin bags of junk!
I'm well impressed with our hotel already, I got in touch and asked if they could put some balloons in the room to surprise OH and was expecting the 'Director of Fun' (seriously, that's her job title!) to say that it'd cost $40 or something daft, but she's sorting a balloon bouquet for $10, bargain!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I wnat to be a director of fun, sounds like an amazing job!
There is indeed a tombola haha, last year i won some roses(chocolate).
I was wondering about Cinny too, where are you?? Busy spending your money hehe?0 -
She's on myfitnesspal a lot so definitely still around, just not on MSE. Guess you don't need to be MSE when you're lucky enough to have £13,000 landing in your lap! She's probably busier too what with the cleaning business etc.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Urgh, big numbers are mating and producing bigger numbers in my sig. I think they're going to top out at about £14,700 (unless I remember anything else we owe anyone) before we start pushing them down again.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I know I shouldn't laugh as it's not a happy situation, but the idea of numbers mating in your sig is a funny one!
I'm sure that there'll be a plague that'll quickly kill the nasty numbers off... like foot and mouth for the CC!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Ooooh I like the sound of that. Urgh it's just such a big number (and doesn't even include the car loan). I can't quite work out how we got here again. I might get myself a big sheet of paper at the weekend, write all the debts on just so I have the pleasure of crossing them out when they're gone. I can also set little rewards on the sheet of paper ie if we get everything but the 0% CC cleared by my birthday we can book a cheap holiday before tackling the second half of the debt. I still can't give up on my holidays because hopefully there will be little Dinah-NIMs (DIMs sounds too mean but I keep thinking of them like that in my head) in the next few years and I won't be able to travel so much. So new tactic, if I want holidays I need to earn them!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
