Hopefully they won't air the show as we might get more people jumping on the comping bandwagon and that means less wins for us! Purely selfish reasons I know. :)

Too true, I have found that my wins this year have decreased since Martins announcement in the MSE newsletter, encouraging more compers. Imagine what a documentary on channel 4 would do :o:eek:. Purely selfish thinking from me too :D

I said 'no' when she called back today.

Can't see how it could ossibly be beneficial for me.

Having the same condition as Liz - who got negative comments etc.. I don't want to go through that.
Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!

Off the top of my head here are some possible aims:-

    1) To make compers look like strange addicts in need of psychological help.
    2) To make compers look like scroungers/benefit cheats/tax dodgers etc.
    3) To make the general public think they haven’t got a chance of winning because compers get all the prizes.
    4) To make companies think they are wasting their time/money running comps because compers who don’t care about the company/product win all the prizes.
    5) To investigate companies running dodgy comps and how does this make compers feel?

Only the last would be good for compers in general, but it could also be bad for you personally.

PS. Has anybody won a CH4 comp where the terms stated "winner agrees to all publicity" - if so - watch out !!!

This was the response I received:

    "Hi *****

You look like you enter competitions and probably win a lot! We're looking for a comper to feature in our documentary.

It would be great to speak to you, is there a number I can call you on and when would be a good time?"

Needless to say I shall not be replying, I just wanted to work out whether it was the same people.

I think you have made the right decision Treacle, if anything how Liz was treated by people who knew nothing about her circumstances should be enough to put anyone off.

Keep up the comping and the great work with competitionclub. :)

I think you were wise to turn them down, every article I ever read or documentary type programme I seen have made compers out to look like complete nutters, there is always an angle! Fact is we are just normal people from all different walks of life who spend a bit of our spare time entering competitions and a lot of us win some rather fantastic prizes, but its never portrayed like that unfortunately.
