i've just been on the phone to apple for 20 minutes  went trough quite along process to no avail. now i've tried connecting it and it says USB device not recognised :o.
maybe my computer is screwed aswell, as it began 'not recognising' my sony ericsson walkman phone?

there's someone coming round on the 2nd or 3rd to pick it up.
they said they will try and fix it or give me a new one.
so if you're still having problems, give them a call!

I have just spent another 2 hrs 20 mins - I have un installed and re installed itunes - still no import button - I checked their tutorial web site and they show the screen shot of what the page should look like they have the import button - I managed to get songs on the ipod then gawd knows what happend but they all disappeared - I have about 20 playlist in itunes - nothing in any of them and none of them showing on the Ipod - I did try to import again from the file - import option that brings me up the D drive and the tracks are listed as tracks 1 - 20 have to highligh each one and import then they are listed try to synch and nothing - I wish I had never set eyes on this contraption ! surely it cannot be that hard to set up thousands of people have them and I really do not think I am that thick ! I am gonna call them up tomorrow as at the moment I honestly feel like crying with frustration I have spent in total approx 8 hours trying to get this working
  • Hey, maybe you could post up a screen shot of what you can see, then someone can highlight what needs to be done. With mine, i just plug the usb into the pc and itunes recognises it and has it in the list on the left hand side. Sure youll get there soon!

Do you live near one of the Apple Stores - you could get a demo from one of their staff on how it should all work. The stores are London, Bluewater, Sheffield, Brum and Manchester.
  • Me again - also any idea why on the tutorial it shows that when yo insert the cd it shuold bring up the tracks and you get the option to click them to select and then a wiggly line appears when it copying over - I dont get this either - I can see a long phone call ahead of me !!!!!
  • Is there anyone out there that I can mail with my screen shot as unable to post it on here ? pleaseeeeeeee

    Hi

So you cannot import tracks from a CD at all?
When you insert a CD, does it appear on the left of Itunes?

No it doesn't - if I go to the top and click file import then select the D drive - audio cd - then as I said I have to select each track individually it says at the the top of itunes importing - then I can see yet another track 1 etc (I have loads of them now) then I click synch and the odd one appears - no playlists show on the ipod (they should shouldn't they ?) just under songs several track 1's 2's 3's etc up to 20 - what a mess !!

Try closing iTunes, then put a popular music CD in the cd-drive on your PC. Then re-start the iTunes program - it may detect the CD and pick-up the track listing automatically from GraceNotes, adding the CD under Devices in the left-hand list.

The first thing is to get a copy of the music from the CD and into the Itunes library. Getting it onto the Ipod can wait.

You say you have loads of Track 1 etc
Can you play them with the CD ejected? In other words, has the songs been successfully copied into Itunes, or when you click on "Track 1" is it being played directly from the CD

I'll take you through it step by step if I can

Yes I can hear them on the nano ok - I just tested another one and it's gone across ok but as none of them have any names beside them I dont know which track is which I can send you a screen shot of what I see:confused:
