Have you considered having your car changed to LPG.

    LPG cost 75p per litre.

Not sure of current conversion cost, when I had mine done it was available for £1200 to £1500.

If you are doing high mileage it soon pays for it's self.

Are you using cashback websites to by your aa etc. Also spending so much on petrol a cashback credit card would be very helpful. Wombling and APG vouchers etc can all have impact too.:money:

    :T

Good idea, not sure about the wombling (read that and thought it sounds a bit iffy), APG vouchers, presume this is a price guarantee, probably make my head hurt and wouldn't know where to start with that.

But the credit card for fuel (£60 per week I'm out) is an idea, along with the supermarket option (not sure if it's specific supermarkets right enough?).

I have a MBNA Reward card on it's way, so I'll start using that and hopefully get a little benefit out of it.

Have started looking at the APG, which I've already saved a little.

And still looking into the various renewals I have coming shortly.

Started using the MBNA card, so hopefully that'll give me some decent cashback.

However I've saved just over £600.00 (around £615) for the coming year. That's with re-negotiating Virgin and the various Insurances that I've amended. One bonus also that my car breakdown cover that is usually around £89 from AA, I've opted for Green Flag via Direct Line (went to them with my new car insurance) but the bonus is that I can pay for it within my monthly DL payment. I usually have to pay by credit card so that's another bonus and actually even with this breakdown cover including in my monthly payments I'm still saving nearly £40 per year on my last car insurance price.

Things going okay, however bit of a bummer is that the dentist has hit home and it's going to cost a good couple or more hundred. :(

Unfortunately the visa will have to be used, but just add that into the debt.

Have had to re-jig our spending and stuff as our little girl has just started school and the wife has had to reduce her hours so her wage has dropped by nearly £80.00 per month, works out around nearly £55 in the month after tax (annual = £660 loss :( ).

Also the dentist work has hit the card and my car is due for MOT in a fortnight (hopefully it'll pass with flying colours but need to prepare, have a bit of money put aside, but not much as I've only started an emergency fund in the last month).

Have saved £330.00 per year on another outgoing bill starting from this month.

So looking at our money situation, we're probably on the same as we were before the wife's cut and stuff.

    hey fd,

Just catching up with your thread, shame about your wife's hours. Any luck registering with the survey sites? I use 4 regularly, and I find they really help - especially coming up to Christmas.

    My Christmas jar currently holds:

    £50 John Lewis vouchers
    £60 M&S vouchers
    £58.75 in Amazon gift certificates
    £45 in Paypal
    £20 River Island vouchers

Plus received a cheque for £30 from Globaltestmarket yesterday. I'm more than halfway to redeeming £50 with another site.

Give them a try - maybe your wife and you could do a couple each night?:D

  • That's fantastic, who are you using?

I'm using Valued Opinions and Toluna. It's obviously surveys, as I don't really get any benefit from cashbacks, as I don't really shop too much online so don't get that benefit from the likes of topcashback site.

My Survey UK (used to be Lightspeed) are probably my best - the surveys are generally short and points are usually 50-150 each so reasonably quick to redeem. My favourite :D.

Valued Opinions are good but I get screened out quite often. I also use Global testmarket - you redeem 1000 points for a cheque for £30.12 (dependent on exchange rate - cheque comes from US).
