Jeez, how times change eh, I thought you just got books from the library.
Thanksf or that. I phoned British Gas and whilst I can't sign up for the Energy Smart tariff, they are still sending me out a monitor.Should be here in the next few weeks.

Think the first step is my renewals for the various insurances I have i.e. house, life, car etc.
I'm pretty sure these can be reduced so that will be a start. I'm also thinking of cutting out tv, phone and BB. Although I'll keep BB of some sort. Only one little prob is our little girl's tv entertainment will go, so no more Disney or Nick Jnr. Although she has countless dvd's of her favourite characters (Humf, Peppa Pig). I do also access Sky online which does at least have Nick Jnr and some of the kids movies that appear on sky.

on a basic sky/freeview she will still get Cbeebies and CITV thou so won't totally lose out on kids programmes0

Well phoned Virgin again last night, managed to get them down to £28 per month. Only one downside is losing the XL tv package. However I have a way round that though. I actually have a sky account (contribute to my Mum's) and can get Sky Player online and I can access the channels like Nick Jnr and stuff, so I can hook up to the tv and actually play it through that. I might opt to pay £5 for Cinemagic, but still wondering about that.
Next I'm going to start on the insurances.

All moving in the right direction, well doneTrying to shift that debt!0

Slight change to the plan, we're now at £39. Decided to go with Sky, which will save us £17 per month but we'll still have the same services (except cinemagic). But at least we're starting on a £17 saving per month which equates to nearly £200 per year.
Just got our buildings insurance in, which has went up by a few pounds so looking to hit that next.

Thanks.
Well I phoned Virgin to cancel my services. So they offered me a deal of £39.99 for all my existing services (includes ESPN & HD Box). So I've decided to stick with Virgin as opposed to things stopping and items flying in and out the house. The wife wasn't too keen on a Sky dish into the bargain, but was going to live with it.
We also gave up a M&S Voucher from Sky, but I think the pros outweigh the cons with this, so I'm not overly fussed.
All in all we'll save £16.75 per month = 201.00 per year.
Am tied into a 12 month contract, but I'm not overly fussed and I can re-negotiate at the end of that.

Home Insurance now moved, not saving too much £7.50 per month, but that's another £90.00 per year saved, so not a kick in the butt off of £300.00 per year saved in a few days.
Next savings expected will come from Mortgage Protection and Life Insurance and then the Car Insurance will be next on the hit-list.
Another thing I have noted is our Road Recovery. It's a one-off payment, unfortunately it'll be credit card, but have noticed that Direct Line do a Recover Plus package that seems good or even better than the current AA service I have which is also £30.00 cheaper.

Are you using cashback websites to by your aa etc. Also spending so much on petrol a cashback credit card would be very helpful. Wombling and APG vouchers etc can all have impact too.:money:grocery challenge 9.86/600
