Item not received - Advice needed

Hello,

I brought an item on 2nd July, said delivery takes 6 days so have waited an extra few days but still have not received the item. I contacted the buyer today to find out what is going on.

I got a prompt reply just now stating she sent it on 5th July with parcel force and she can email me the receipts etc if I wanted.

I am not sure what to do on this as have already waited a while. I am willing to wait until the end of the week, but what does everyone else suggest I do? The receipts are of no use to me as the contract is between the seller as Parcel Force.

Open a basic dispute in paypal, not a chargeback. Tell seller again that item has not been received and you will contact her again tomorrow if nothing arrives.

Then after 48 hours or so escalate the dispute to a full chargeback. If a seller starts offering me receipts or proof of postage I automatically think the worst, and will go for an early chargeback to protect myself.

Thanks Soolin, I was thinking that however do you not think it will get the sellers back up if I open a dispute already? I don't understand why she can not track it with parcel force.

Depending upon the experience of the seller that may be somewhat harsh, a dispute should be a last resort.

OP ask the seller for the tracking number and track it on the PF website.

You are correct that the seller is responsible for getting the goods to you but it's possible they have attempted delivery and have the parcel at the depot.

Positive communication with the seller may see a more prompt resolve than a dispute and you have 45 days to open one so there's no rush.

Thanks she was quick to response to my emails but has not responded for the last hour since I asked for the tracking number.

Wait till she sends a tracking number, that way you will know where it is/if it's gone walkies.

I ALWAYS use recorded post for this reason, I have had stuff go missing in the post with one buyer threatening to open a case against me. I find it highly annoying. I was successful in my claim to Royal Mail for this said item. The buyer chilled when my papal refund cleared (I had restrictions on my account at the time  ).

It hasn't been that long either, sometimes things can get mixed up, found again, then you get it. (This has happened to me).

Although it is her responsibility to make sure you get the goods I know. If she says otherwise then you need to explain that (after all you can leave neg feedback) I NEVER buy from anyone who claims otherwise.

soolin, how does that worry you? I am always happy to offer my buyers proof of postage if the ask for it or something goes missing, purely so they know I have posted it and I am able to offer a refund as I can claim against rm (I love stamps LOL).

I just don't see why any seller would offer a buyer proof of postage, it makes no sense as I assume the buyer in this case hasn't told the seller that they believed the item wasn't sent and the seller a liar. So why would a seller need to prove item was sent?

It also makes me think a seller might try the old 'not my problem' malarky and for that alone I would get in a protective claim early as the seller still has 10 days to allow for the item to arrive.

If a seller reassures a buyer that refunds will be made, or makes a more open statement (not just here's proof i sent it) then I would normally wait longer. However this has already been 10 days from payment.

I also can't see why any buyer would need to know you are covered for an RM refund, again that is nothing to do with them and it seems to suggest you would only refund because you know you can reclaim. A buyer gets a refund regardless of whether seller has proof of posting or not.

The seller offering a scan of the receipt may be their way of trying to reassure the buyer the parcel was actually sent.

If a customer chases an order I know exactly what to do and say but many sellers don't, that doesn't mean they are going to tell you get stuffed if it doesn't arrive.

I think jumping to a dispute after one response from a seller is a very poor way to behave, a person doing this either has no faith in eBay sellers or no patience.

If the seller doesn't come back with a tracking number for Parcel Force after another day or 2 maybe then a dispute should be opened.

And by co incidence 2 days was when I suggested opening a full chargeback.

Or maybe they can easily judge by the way they get a response how difficult the seller will be. There are signposts that make it pretty obvious what some sellers reactions will be. Soolin never said to open a dispute immediatly she sad to leave it a couple of days, which is what you said so you actually agree.
