Any way of getting out of my contract?

I have been with orange for 14 years. Contract for 6 years.

I have always paid on time.

I have a good deal (I think) its £25 for 2000 texts 900 mins (600 are a good will gesture) and I think I have 500mb Internet. I bought my iPhone 3 out right last year and had my sim updated.

The problems I have been having are:
3G don't work (when it's switched on my signal goes. So orange tech told me to keep it off hence Internet out and about is so slow or wont work so Qfrustrating)
My bills are always over £35. Apparently I go over my minutes. (can't imagine that only use it for work occasionally to call mum dh and make doc/dentist appointments).

I renewed last yr for 24 mnth (only because he offered me samsung galaxy and I gave it to dd for bday present) I am stuck in this contract till June next yr :(. Or am I?

It's just so frustrating to be sat right next to dh who is on 3 and can use 3G. And my friend who is with 02 and it also flys.

Anything I can do?

You have a contract, and they will hold you to it.

You need to sort your problem, push the problem up the levels, to the Executive Office if need be, I haven't heard of a fault where you can't use 3G anywhere at any time. What explanation have the Orange tech staff given so far?

There was no explanation. Just told me that 3G can't be available in my area (bollox I live in the city and everyone I know with 3G works but none are with orange). And told me to turn 3G off as when I tried to use Internet my signal would drop off and no Internet connection.

Other than the above I have no problems. They have always been good to me.

It's just so frustrating. I am using dh phone on 3G to read these boards and it's flying. Mine is still loading am having to keep refreshing.

Unless you buy yourself out or another network agrees to buy Orange out, I can't see a way of getting out mate.

Sounds like a phone issue rather than a network issue, have you tried your sim in another orange phone and do you get 3g?

Hang on Reading this again, are you still using your Iphone 3, cause if you are using the first ever released iphone its not compatible with 3g

Two very, very basic points here - and I can't believe I am writing this

    1. Apparently I go over my minutes. Orange produce itemised bills - on-line and by post. How can you not be able to check?????

    2. "I renewed last yr for 24 mnth (only because he offered me samsung galaxy ". Let me get this straight - you signed up to a service that doesn't give you reception and a commitment of £840 in order to get your DD a Samsung handset ??????

    Words fail.
  • I know there have been problems with I phone 3's and 3gs with them dropping the signal. It might be worth taking it to a mobile repair place to see if it can be fixed.

have a look on your sim card and see if it says '3G' on it, if it doesn't then you dont have a 3G sim, call up orange and get them to send you a 3G sim, they should send it to you for free as you are paying for data but not getting what you are paying for.

also check the orange coverage map to see what you should get http://search.orange.co.uk/ouk/portal/coveragechecker.html?channel=direct/ and http://search.orange.co.uk/ouk/portal/coveragechecker.html

Hubby has just bought me out of my contract on Orange. It would have cost him £140 to let the contract run but would cost him £84 to buy me out. Since i cant use it anyway (the signal keeps dropping and has been for months), i went for a different network and a new phone.

apparently if you drop your phone in a flushing toilet it clears up the reception, but only on a full moon at midnight.

Another possibility is that you dialled some numbers that are not included in your allowance. Numbers starting with 0845/0870/0800 etc are excluded, and I think cost around 40p per minute on Orange.

As for 3G, have you tried your sim in a different phone? If it's purely a coverage issue maybe you could argue that you're not getting the service you paid for, and request an early cancellation?
